Decided to make a couple of strings the other day. I've made a few 3 ply, but that was yrs ago. This time I tried 2 ply. On both of them, they look like they have more twists on one end than the other. No matter how many twists I make, it doesn't change. What am I doing wrong? MP

You may want to put some back-twist in your bundles once the top of the string is twisted up. I hope that makes sense. Good Luck!!!

When you do the first end put a loose overhand knot in the other end. Observe what the strands look like after all those twists are in the first end. Undo the knot and straighten out the hanks. Now counter twist the bundles so they look like they did when you had the first end in, but of course, backwards. Now when you do end two the final result should be neutral. Or near enough. Over time it becomes an automatic number of cranks of the thumb against forefinger to put in the counter twist, and you are good. If you have ever seen a video of someone making rope on their thigh it is basically the same action, but for a different reason.
