Why not seperate the classes? I'd be alright with that, not like compound, trad, and selfbow are in the same classes.

Guess I really don't have an opinion when it comes to shoots. I'm able to shoot any imaginable distance on my property, and ibo shoots haven't lit me on fire... yet.

When it comes to hunting laws its a different story. I'll go back to compound before crossbow. And if I couldn't shoot a compound, I'd probably just stick to muzzleloaders. Crossbows are strait up evil unless your physical condition requires you to use one. They just aren't fair to the rest of the vertical bowhunters out there, and they take the challenge out of bowhunting. Crossbows are just poisoning the waters of bowhunting.

Here in Alabama they are legal too. Everybody has their own opinion on the subject but as for me, I don't really care what they use. I don't care to shoot one myself but if others want to use them, I really don't care.

Been legal here for awhile first coupple of years alot of folks were buying them now most have tired of them and very rarely see one

, those that I talked too said they were very clumbsy and akward in the field, and went back to their compounds or muzzle loaders

If you do not have to draw it back when an animal walks up ( it's already cocked and loaded) it should not be allowed in bow season. Handicapped or not. I don't have anything against the weapon itself. I just think it should only be allowed in gun season. My own opinion of course.

They pushed it through in Wisconsin last year as well. If our club ever allows crossbows, that's the day I quit the club.

Well Dan, if you joining be careful, those rascals are as dangerous as any handgun. Good luck with your decision.

I lived and hunted in Ohio for years and never wasted a minute worrying about to be honest.

If crossbows were only allowed in gun season (and I have -0- opinion one way or the other) then it could be argued that bows shouldn't be allowed in gun season.

Bought my daughter one last year so she could spend time in the woods with me. Money well spent! I gave up worrying about them. Not for me, but I don't care what others use.

I personally HATE crossbows except for the handicapped, seniors or other with real reasons to use this technology. Crossguns have a trigger and shoot bolts. That is alot different even from wheels and sights. Crossguns are not in the archery category to me. BUT, as hunters are we better off fighting among ourselves or all standing together to protect our hunting rights. I would not join a club that lets crossbows shoot in the same class as wheels and Trad but I have made my peace eith the X shooters. I just hope I am never one of them!

One person I worked with a few years ago had an old Bear recurve he used for archery season and he was proud of the crossbow he bought. He had some health problems so it made sense to me. Bet it worked well on his leased land.

What always worried me was the numbers crossbows take. At first they told us crossbows wouldn't take enough game to effect our season. Now they take around 49 thousand deer with regular bows taking around 39 thousand. We have always had a super long season because they said we didn't take enough to hurt the population. Well with crossbows we do take enough. Last year they talked about shortening our season slightly but never mentioned what slightly is. Our gun season is only 7 days so if the numbers keep going up it's our season that will pay. OBA didn't let them in, they got guys in as bowhunters till they had the numbers to take over.

To be honest about it, I've never shot a crossbow, but William Tell was considered an archer and shot an apple off his son Robert's head, with a crossbow, on November 18th, 1307. I suppose that makes crossbows quite traditional.

I have hunted several states where crossbows were legal for many years and have only seen two actually being hunted with. Both cases were elderly (like me now) gentlemen using them. I have not shot a bow in over a year due to health issues but I don't think I will be buying a crossbow to hunt with. I will let the other guy paddle his boat the same as I do and will not look down my nose at his choice of weapons if they are legal.
