I had one of my favorite stands stolen last year, an aluminum Loc On. Since they're no longer made I need suggestions for a replacement.

I want to replace it with something similar in weight, less than 10#, something that attaches with a strap, not a ratchet strap, and not a tall seat ht, preferably less than 20".

Any suggestions?

Look at the Millenium M7 Micro lite.

I'm not sure what Milleniums weigh, but they are the most comfortable I've ever sat.

Summit, Api, ameristep, lone wolf

Take a look at them and see if you find something you like. Aluminum stands are nice but the steel ones I use for the price can't be beat. But aluminum is the luxury stand material, nice.

The M7 is 8-9 lbs.

I like that M-7. How does that receiver attach to the tree?

It's a ratchet strap with a quick mount. You can preset multiple straps. Never used one...just have been investigating for my next purchase

Summit and API don't make any that light. Lone Wolf is 11 lbs. and very pricey.

Dale when I read your post made my heart skip. That same stand is what gave way many years back gave way while I was in it. Broke my back and shattered my wrist. Wasn't suppose to ever wlalk again. I was lucky

I like the millennium, and the weight, but do not like the hang system, but I guess I could get use to it, have to try it....

I also had my last lone wolf stolen, this past late season....

waiting to see the vanish by XOP, they will not have it out till October they told me, look them up on their web, out of Iowa,,,,

original lone wolf owners and designers,,,, I saw the standard XOPs, great design, dead, quiet, new stick stystem is slick....

check it out

Ok S.north you've gotten my attention in a big way. I need to know what actually broke on your Spirit Loc-On. Not to rob this thread but I'm a die hard Limit Loc-On fan. Can you elaborate on what actually broke ?so glad you're okay now. I don't weigh much but this concerns me a great deal. Thanks,

They had a chain. That hooked around the tree. There was a braided rope that was offered to use instead of the chain. The Roap had a loop where it's hooked on the hook of the stand then pull it tight. As I sat down before putting my safety strap on the loop on the Roap broke. It wasn't old. Roap Just happened.

I'm with deerman406, check out the Chippewa Wedgeloc on the classifieds. A bit higher seat at 22" and probably a little more weight, but they are my choice for a hang on.

I walk with limp. Got fusen on lower back and rods in back. Steal plate in wrist. Not complaining. I'm 63 and going to Col elk hunting again next month

Ok, I remember they offered those. They did concern me too. Hate to hear that. Glad your good now. My limits have straps. My first spirit had chain. It was stolen too. Have one of those left.

Dale I would say go with a alum Gorilla but since they're gone too my rec is the M7 as well. It's 8.5lbs . Lightest one out there now I think. I've looked.

I have been very happy with my Muddy stand. The Muddy Vantage Point is only 13 lbs.

I had 2 of those stolen same day while I sat at home with flu, I still have mine, with chains , great stands that some one should make again, I had mine modified though , welded a piece of alum in the shape of a triangle to each point it contacted the tree. Rock solid if done correct. They where known for pinching you when you took them down . My cloth seat needs to be replaced after 30yrs though .

Forget my suggestion, the seat height is 24," that is one thing I do not like about that stand, the seat height.

Good luck with your search.

I have a Gorilla Silverback HX Scout. It is extremely lightweight and quiet. The Gorilla stands are no longer made but look at new manufacturer Hawk. Their stands look identical to the old Gorilla stands.

Wedge-Loc have used mine for years and so has a fellow bow hunter used his for as long as I can remember

I thought Loc-Ons were now being made by another company (same treestand and name, different manufacture) in southern Ohio, or at least they were a few years ago when I purchase a couple replacement seats from them...

Thanks for all the recommendations. I have some homework to do. I have some stands I let out all season in reliable places, but I want a light mobile one to use on public land where I'll put it up and take it down the same day, or if I'm scouting and find hot, new sign.

I like my Gorillas too but after hearing of cables breaking,I cut the plastic off the cables on my two stands. All cables were badly corroded and I feel extremely lucky that I didn't have a bad accident.Rain and condensation get inside that plastic covering and can't get out.My hands were wet, after handling the newly stripped cables and the stands had been in the house for weeks.I replaced mine with SS cable and no plastic coating. Many have gone to chains.I will never use plastic coated cables again. The plastic coating not only causes corrosion but also prevents you from inspecting for it.

If you use Gorilla stands, please replace your stock cables and straps. They got out of the stand business for a reason.Be safe out there guys.Your family can't replace you.

Jim B is right about the Gorilla cables! I had one side break while I was on stand 15' up. Thank God I was screwing in by EZ hanger and had something to hang on to. Only one cable broke. After inspecting what caused this it is the same Jim found. Cable had rusted under plastic coating. I went online and ordered new cables for all my stands that night. Be safe

I too had a stand stolen last season. It was a Loc On stand I've used for years. I'm not sure what I'm going to replace it with. who ever took my stand I hope it brakes on the this season!

I just did a search on Loc-On, looks like they went out of business October 2013... Dang, I knew I should have bought another Windwalker...
