on the string of my bow and as a calm came over me my head dropped down and bowed...stretching and loosening the muscles in the back of my neck.

I didn't close my eyes...I merely quit holding them open as their lids gently shut all on their own and my mind went blank in the darkness that lay behind them.

And as I slowly opened them again the first thing I saw was the position of my feet...spaced shoulder width apart...my right foot slightly trailing my left...in the closed stance I prefer.

I purchased the string with my right hand...just below the arrow nock as the string found the well worn groove of my glove and the light tension on the string caused my bow hand to find it's familiar position on my bows grip.

I raised then turned my head...my eyes fixated on the spot as I turned at the waist...Pre-loading my upper body by rotating my shoulders slightly inward towards the target...enough so as to take a deep breath as I raised my bow, just above my shoulders, in a near static position.

I slowly exhaled as I drew my bow and felt it's limbs take a deep breath in...first by rotating at the waist then by rotating my draw arm shoulder around as my back muscles engaged finishing the deed and all while simultaneously bringing my bow arm down inline with the spot.

With my draw arm elbow as far back as it could possibly go and my string centered within the structure of my body...my anchor was set and finally?...

I could begin aiming...which was over but a second or two after it started as I expanded loosing the string and the arrow was well on it's way too the spot.

By the Grace of God I turned 58 years old today Gentlefolk...my poetic license has expired but my romancing the bow lives on. :)

Great description Bill and Happy Birthday.

Mine was the 12th but I usually don't like to mention it, but since ours is so close I will mention it, I made it to my seventies that's celebration enough.
