Happy wife shooting. This project took about 15 hours. I am still not happy with the finish but that will have to be another day.

Good work James; I couldn't have given it to a better guy to bring it back to life...and a riser like that certainly deserves a new lease on life. It also deserves those nice dark brown limbs, instead of the white ones it used to have! It's fun to see it born again at 51 years of age.

The taper sled is the same as the aluminum one used with a drum sander only this one is built out of steel. It is 42" long, hinged at one end and shimmed at other to adjust the taper rate. It slides on a rail that is 6' long and supports the sled. It makes tapering a one piece lam from both ends easy and very accurate. The rail can be turned over and used to run parallel lams down to .040.

-any of you who want a real education in bow building ,,, share the privilege\ I have had. sit and watch him build a bow from scratch. he aint as pretty as I am ,,, but the talent in that man's hands and head is something to see. I have a shooting school. and over the years I have known james I have had about 15 of his bows. from 5 pound bows for head start kids to 60 pound 6 foot longbows. all of them top notch shooters.
