I scored a great deal on a Shakespeare Wonderbow - The Manitou X-20 from the big auction site last week. I had my eye, and heart set, on this bow for months. I was really attracted to the intermediate length of 58" and 44# draw. It's a 1968 model. I am so happy to have it, I wasn't sure if I would like the maple riser, thinking it might be too pale but it's a nice golden color and I love it. The bow was in great shape, only a few tiny scratches, and not even very dirty. I twisted up a string and got a bunch of shots downrange today. It doesn't seem to care much about arrows - seemed to shoot everything from Genesis arrows to my Beman ICS 500s nice and true.

I was prepared to do a restore job on it but it doesn't need it at all. I just worked a bit of a radius into the shelf and added a feather rest and strike plate.

Those were bows the working man could afford and they will shoot just as well as fancy wood models. Love the old Root/Shakespeare bows.

I really like that bow, good luck and many years of shooting.

I've got the Super Necedah X-32 in 45 and absolutely love it.

Thanks for the looks and replies guys. I'm still really happy with this bow. Added some cat whisker string silencers last night. Now it's just the way I want it.

Looking forward to years of good shooting.

Early in my bowhunting life I use a Shakespeare Sierra for many years. Later I lusted over a Super Necedah. I still remember those bows hanging on the carousel racks at the local sporting goods store. I finally got one years later and liked it a lot but, like many other bows I've owned I refinished it and sold it to fund new purchases. Since then I have owned other Shakespeares including a Necedah. Now I have an Ocala and a have a Kaibab on the way. I am constantly impressed with how those old bows, other than Bears, feel comfortable in the hand and perform.

I have a Super Necedah X-30 40#. Terrible shape when I got it but after a refinish it is becoming my favorite shooter.
