Today has a special significance for us here in..

..Newfoundland as it is the 100th anniversary of the battle of Beaumont Hamil where some 700 Newfoundlanders were slaughtered in the lead up to the great battle of the Somme in northern France.

Canada is freakin' awesome. Period. Girlfriend and I bicycled across Vancouver Island from Nanimo to Long beach in 1976, during the simmer olympics. Drop dead beautiful. Banff and Jasper parks. Just freakin' awesome country!

I have been through there Buzz. The Rockies are awesome and I hope to see them again in August. The sea coast has a different kind of beauty.. for me when my spirit needs soothing there is nothing like sitting close to the ocean and listening to it's eternal heartbeat. The scene changes constantly, this morning I watch a trio of seagulls escort a Bald eagle out of the harbour. Two weeks ago it was a big iceberg, and the whales will show up when the caplin begin to spawn on the rocky beaches. Sandy

Tough life here...turns out I am expected to make a motorcycle trip to visit some friends at Edson in the next week or so...I will take a picture off my friend Eric's deck while I am there...apparently on a clear day one can get a pretty good view of said Rocky Mountains
