Got one on the way, never shot one. It's 58" long, 45@28. I draw 29.5. Anyone have info on these bows? good shooters? Do they stack? When made? Any info appreciated. Thanks, Craig.

I had a new one about 1966- 40 pounds and about 64". It was my first laminated recurve bow. I would consider it a decent bow- probably an entry level bow at the time, but I suspect in function was the equal of fancier bows. Brings fond memories to me.

I can date it for you if you can show me the logo and model number. I might even be able to give you the page from the catalog.
All bows before 1968 used three numbers, from 1968 on they used four. The logo can date most bows from the 60's. The 70's is much harder.

They never made a 58" Cougar, so I suspect you bought it from someone who measured the string. They made it in 62" and 64" for the most part, but never shorter than 62", which I imagine yours will turn out to be.

What George said......they are one of my favorite Pearson bows though. Not particularly fast, but they sure are easy to shoot well.

I killed my first traditional deer with a 50# cougar. It shot well, at least to me it did. I was shooting a 2413 aluminum arrow cut to 28". WAYYYY too stiff but I didn't know it at the time. It did the job on a small buck. That was in 1998 or 1999. That bow was what got it all started for me. Mine was 62".

What George said. Great entry bow. Had one, gave it to my grandson. The bow is thirty-five years old and still spitting arrows.

My brother has a Cougar, 62". It's a good shooting bow imo. His is 44lbs, very smooth.

I agree with Mr. Stout but I wasn't confident enough to say they never made them shorter,I just had never seen one. Mine was 64" and felt very smooth with a 30" draw. How ever I went to heavier bows and light always feels smooth to me

Bought this one at a yard sale couple years ago for $10 bucks. It is smooth and shoots like a million bucks. You will love it. Good luck.

I gave up a Ben Pearson cougar for the auction on here some time back. It looked like tulip wood but I'm sure it wasn't. I'd like to have another cougar- they are fun to shoot.

I had one many moons ago. Gave it to a young man who had an interest in shooting. It was one of the easiest bows to shoot. I wouldn't mind another.

Even though the Cougar was a very inexpensive bow, every so often Pearson would slip an absolutely amazing piece of wood into the riser. I've seen three or four on eBay over the last three years that were just plain knockouts, with crazy swirly grain figure to them.

I have a Ben Pearson longbow, but there is no model ID on it. It looks like the 3rd one from the left in Tonto59's post from 2013. I am looking for more info on this bow. Any help is greatly appreciated.
