Happy Memorial Weekend y'all! It is because our troops gave their all that we can do as we do. Thank you to those men and women and also praying for those in current service.

My family heads out rummaging as we have for the last 20+ years and stop at the Veterans Park to support the brat fry they have. It is a great time to speak softly my thanks. I might not have found any archery gear while rummaging, but I found some great stuff in my grandpa's stuff, he's been gone 8 years and I have only a few things from him. The bear signs will be great when I get the bar completed but the other 2 items I am excited to use/ display.

I have been thinking about a self bow for a while. I will have a guiding hand while undertaking this task now for sure! He also had these arrows above his bar while my mom was growing up. I'm not sure of the age, but I know it will be a great remined of him.

Anyone else find items to cherish after loved ones have passed? Archery relics saved from being lost to time?

Yessir. My late father-in-law's old Sterling knife that was in a box to go to auction. I cleaned it up and sent it to Knifeguy, who resurrected it and gave it new life and a new edge. Lance did a great job and even made a sheath for me to carry it. It's in the photo here.

I found my dad's bow when we were helping my mom sell her house and go into assisted living. I thought it was long gone. If you saw the bow, you might doubt it's usefulness but he certainly put it too good use.

I found a Darton recurve at a yard sale for $10.00. Even better, the guy had an authentic Cherokee arrow from Oklahoma. I'm pretty sure it was made for the tourist trade in the early half of the last century, but it is still pretty cool in my book.

I've found many early American artifacts over the years - points, scrapers, knife blades, nut stones, small hammer stones, pipe stems, etc.. Probably the coolest artifact find though would be a very small purple/bluish trade bead.

Found a civil war era pewter button and mine ball as well.
