I have a 62inch Schafer Silvertip takedown longbow on the way. 43lbs @ 28. I'm pulling around 27.5. Shooting off the shelf, centershot, split finger. Does anyone have a solid recommendation on an aluminium arrow that will be best suited for this bow?
Thanks

agree with raghorn. BUT, keep in mind that arrow spine isn't always written in stone either. There's a personal aspect involved as well.
Are you going to tune the arrow (cut it, add weight, inserts, etc.) or are you going to tune the bow?

I had a 62 inch Silvertip longbow and with an SBD string it was as fast as any recurve of the same weight I believe...Dave has not made many 62 inch longbows and possibly only 1 as a takedown so that would be a special bow...1916 would certainly be a good starting point and if that is too weak then try a 2016...one thing we have found is that aluminum arrows are easier to tune with point weight than are carbons

I'm thinking raghorn got this one.

As I know the OP , he hopes to use a 125 grn broadhead on a 29 inch arrow for starters. I bet a 1916 is a good start, ya think?

I'm going to disagree with fdp & Nockbuster on this one. Spine is chiseled in stone. And 1916's cut to 28.5" will shoot extremely well in that bow, with points in the 125-150 range. Guy's quit trying to make this more involved than it is, there is nothing magical about spine. Bob

Bob...I don't disagree. That's one of the reasons that I asked how the OP was going to set up the bow, and what his tuning process was going to be.

DDave, not special as in "rare", but it IS a Silvertip, and so by that it IS special!
Hard Charger, I'm not sure where you're at with this but I myself just acquired a 62" 3 piece Silvertip Longbow that I'm shooting about 58# at 30". It's shooting 31" 250 CE heritage (386 spine I believe) with 175gr points real nice. It's also shooting 31" 400 spine Trad Onlys with 145gr points quite fast. I'm very pleased with the performance!

If I wanted 125-145 grain point weight I would go with the 1916
I would rather have a 2016 with a 175 point weight for myself
the 2016's are perty versital around that draw weight and varry length and point weight to get a good tune
