Titan lll and bf extreme limbs 45 lbs - took Mr stouts advice and got full length 500 spine shafts and put 175 grains out front - seems to fly good but bow seems loud to me. Any suggestions? Got beaver puffs on the string and the brace height is set at 7 3/4"

No, mine is whisper quiet. Those limbs give a little "doink" sound but it is far from loud. I have the same combination. I use homemade woolie silencers and I wrap with wool where the loop tage endings hit the limbs.

Do you have felt or velcro on the string grooves? How many gpp are your arrows?

Limbsavers will help some.

You've got one of the finest bows available and there's no reason it can't be as quiet as any takedown recurve. Apparently, you've got something going on. Loose screws or setscrews, springs in the ILF fittings, brace height too low... something.

Cecile is on with the limbsavers, makes a big difference.

Where does the noise come from? Is it from the arrow (bad release), the string (release, brace height,) arrow slapping the sight window (probably bad release). Move the puffs around, play with the brace height, concentrate on your release,

Could be a number of things.

try 8 1/4 brace.

I have the 15" Titan riser and run brace height 8 - 8 1/4" using a set of my homemade ILF long recurve limbs. I would try increasing the brace height and see what happens.

I made a mistake..my riser is 17" Titan 2..

Check the ILf bushings on the limbs they need to be tight. I you are using a skinny string they are noisy on the Titan. Limb saver, Beaver balls/ cat whiskers/puff balls all helped. I had mine up at LAS shop with John Wert once the skinny string was changed the bow was quite. Tradtech web site has a complete owners/set up manual for the Titan. http://www.lancasterarchery.com/media/manufacturer_resources/TitanII&III_Guide.pdf Tons of good info in it. Brace height: Shorts 7 1/4 - 8.0 Med 7 1/2 - 8 1/4 Longs 7 3/4 - 8 1/8

Brace height for sure

More on my set up I forgot. I do have limb savers which came on the BF limbs I bought. I also have 8" brace and shoot split finger which really helps with the noise aspect.

Tiller needs to be 1/8" negative. Evan tiller will also work. Go to Tradtech web under ILF risers Titan 11 or III. A great set up guide is there that can answer all your questions.

flinger....no one can help you at all unless you explain what kind of noise you are referring to.

There's some good suggestions here, that may or may not work just depending on what is causing the noise.

Can't tell you where it's coming from - will try increasing the brace height - thinking it might be the string in string grooves

Went to 8 1/4 and it helped - still a bit twangy - but better for sure

i had that bow. same specs. i also had that problem, take the bow down and tighten every little screw. thats what i had to do. after that i relized it wasnt dependable enough for hunting and i sold it. if you wanna know exactly what loose screw it was you can tighten a bolt and shoot it untill you find it.

With the string relaxed the old limbs are sure loose and floppy - guess that's not important?

"... i relized it wasnt dependable enough for hunting..."

Now... that one takes the cake.

flinger...if you can't tell where the noise is coming from, you can't fix it. Is the sound like that of a loose screw. is it vibration in the limbs or string, or is it arrow noise?

Make sure the brass bushing on the limb bolt is screwed up tight to the head of the bolt. The limb slides between the bushing and the head of the bolt, and if the bushing is loose then you'll get a buzzing noise.

I have three ILFs. I teflon the limb bolts, and the limb bushings. I also take the pin/springs out of the bushings and loc-tite them. At the fades I use Bowjaxs. I use bow quivers, what I also found that helps is a strap on quiver. My ILF bows are VERY quiet!! Like said "play" with brace height. Also those BFs are strong limbs, you might need a 400 spine depending on your draw length. I also found Davesonics 12 strand strings to help.

Appreciate the responses - was shooting 400 spine but went to 500 - draw length about 29"

Thinking the noise is in the string or limbs

Kirk at Bigfoot bows gave me this advise and was helpful in quieting my bows. Offset your string silencers. Example: top puff down 10 inches and bottom puff up 14inches. Give it a try and let me know if it helps, then thank Kirk not me.

Didn't read all the responses, but I have the Titan III and it's exceptionally quiet. Check the ILF limb's dovetail connectors. If a detent pin is "stuck" then you'll likely hear it after the shot.

I like the idea of yarn wrapping the string ends. I will get around to it someday:)

When all else fails have someone else shoot it and stand back a couple feet. Sometimes the bow is magically quiet when another shooter is behind the string.

Slight buzz when smacking upper limb with a Palm - must be something in the ilf fitting - will mess with it some more this weekend

From: Deadringer
Date: 01-Jun-16

Make sure the brass bushing on the limb bolt is bottomed out tight if you're hearing a buzz.
