I've been seeing and reading about Bear takedowns and the Risers on the Wall for sometime. My question is do they really exist. I've had an "A" Riser on order for a month and a half and still waiting. If they do exist are they worth the wait? Is anybody waiting longer? Joel

I really don't know what to say lol. A month is not a long wait. They will get yours when you have it in you hands. Could take 6 month or more or less supply and demand have you ever order a custom bow?

Oh they're real. I heard Sasquatch got his B riser a few weeks ago. Hopefully yours isn't too far behind. 6 weeks is a cakewalk!

From what I have been hearing Bear Archery is pretty back logged. Have you checked the classifieds and some auction sites ? Sometimes new models show up there. I just got a 2016 Bear Takedown from member Nimrod here on the leatherwall. deerman406 had a 2011 model for sale, maybe check with him to see if he still has it.

Have you checked with Big Jim?

Another place to check for one is on facebook's Traditional Bowhunters CLASSIFIED BUY-SELL-TRADE, or Vintage Bear Archery Buy Sell Trade.

Yes fdp the Riser is ordered from Big Jim, and I'm sure they also wish Bear Archery could "step up" their production. Joel

I agree that 6 weeks for a bow is sure not an eternity, but can sure seem like if you want it NOW. They are worth the wait and you will have your Christmas right in midst of summer.

Most likely you will be ordering another soon after getting this one.

...and Yellow Dog, that's a really nice looking piece! I like the limb tips too.

Well, I don't comprehend ordering a product when one questions it's existence, but whatever. Having said that, I'm going with "yes" because they are within the realm of reality, having seen, handled and shot them. Along similar lines of logic, however, I never did order one of those hover craft type vehicles back in the 70's as a kid. It just struck me as odd that Bazooka gum would trade something like that for a bunch of their own gum wrappers......always kinda thought "sea monkeys" were doubtful too, so there's also that one.

I believe bear take down risers exist.

Not sure about mermaids, but I want to believe.

Lions in the superbowl would be nice too, but I probably will have better luck with the mermaid.

I always wanted the X-ray glasses in the back of the comic bookstore Roger, LOL! My cousin got the Hovercraft, it was a cardboard cutout in the shape of the picture in the add!

Jay, I got the X Ray glasses. They didn't work! I'm still mad about that..

I got my B riser from Big Jim a week ago last Friday.

Yes and yes. Your in good hands with BIg Jim.

It's a manipulation of supply and demand to sell existing stock to prepare for something new-this is my opinion(typical business nowadays). If I wanted one I'd wait and see what's next.

If you placed your order with Big Jim, I'm sure that he'll get it to you just as soon as he can.

He's probably the best supplier that you could purchase a new Bear bow from. ;^)

I'm going to hold out for an all phenolic B handle. Without compass and inserts of course.

2016 Bear Takedown. They do exist. Here is mine I got from member Nimrod. He bought it new. I never ask him from where. He bought it about a month ago and didn't care for the B-riser ( he likes A-risers ) and lucky for me he remembered I shoot B-risers and #1 limbs. On the handle mine has TDB-16 02-008. Be patient if anyone can get you one Big Jim will.

I realize that patience is a virtue, but I will soon be 81 and I don't even buy green bananas anymore, and everytime I see a hearse coming down the street I hobble off and hide. Joel

"LOL" I understand Joel. I didn't know you were 81 years old. Still bowhunting and shooting recurves at 81, your my hero.

81 you should of bought one when they was cheaper lol. My grandma got so pissed off when people would come over and look at her antiques she said them are not antiques I remember when they was new!

Nockbuster, you're right about waiting too long to buy a Bear bow. But in almost 60 years of shooting traditional I've shot mostly Black Widow, Wing-Bob Lee, Elberg etc. So I am finally ordering a Bear bow. My fear is when and if I pass I would hate standing on the steps of the Pearly Gates and admit I never owned a Bear bow. That could constitute being a sin and turning you away. We old dudes have to take these things into consideration. Joel

Joel I really hope you enjoy your new bow when you receive it. Jim will get you your bow as soon as it is humanly possible. You are in good hands. Now Bear on the other hand may have some splainin' to do!

Good Luck!

I ordered a new Brown Stripe B Riser the first year they came out with them in 1996 and that one took 6 months. In 2001 when 3Rivers contracted through Bear for a special limited run of 100 A risers, the first built since the early 70's, that one took 8 months. Those came with #1 limbs only since Bear hadn't reintroduced the #3 limbs until a few years later.

Joel everyone wants to go to heven bUT if you make it to hell you will have to pull up a chair when I get there. I hopefully I will make it to the gates myself but like they say if it was easy everyone would be in. Hope they get it to you fast. Take care Fred.

Big Jim will get it to you before anyone else, that is for sure. He has a direct tie to the factory and happens to be Bear's #1 distributor. Patience my man, Patience.

I'm in it for the long haul. As Ron LaClair states "I'll hunt till they throw dirt on my face. Since I intend to be Cremated I definitely will not hunt close to forest fires, otherwise I'm good to go. Joel
