That's from 1967...built just before transition to Head Ski around the time Bob Lee moved the company from Houston to Jacksonville Florida. This info is from Kelly who can confirm that. He's very, very knowledgeable on Wings. Riser is bubinga. One factoid that Kelly shared was the lettering was done by Bob Lee's wife Charlotte. I have number RW6797.They're great bows.

that's awesome, thanks Pdiddly!...I read one of Kelly's comments on a different forum and was hoping this one was bubinga--seems like these RWH's are really underrated on the big auction site. Picked this one up for about half what I expected to pay for it, especially after reading about them in the archives here and what the members here have to say on them.

Outstanding bows but don't tell anyone. I've got 2. One like yours and an earlier one in rosewood. Smooth as silk!

So you are the guy that got that bow. I was thinking real hard about it but I already have a 43# 58" that I can't seem to put down. By the way, Bob Lee moved it to Jacksonville, TEXAS, not Florida. The same place where Bob Lee bows are today. I've had a lot of bows over the years and was always partial to my Shakespeare Kaibabs, but this Red Wing Hunter has them beat.

Yeah, that's me--couldn't pass it up,great price and it is supposed to arrive tomorrow--really looking forward to trying it out. First Wing, and so far haven't read a single negative about them...

Beauty! I looked hard at it but like a little heavier. You should love it.

Ooh, must have missed that one, 37# is right in my wheelhouse. :)

Wing made the RWH with Bubinga handle for about three years. 1965-very early 1967, then switched to Shedua. The 1965-66 versions have Wing decals whereas this one has Wing silkscreen which later was used by Head Ski, too. Just added Div of Head Ski underneath the shield/logo. That is why it is called by collectors the "Transition" bow.

Ahhh...so Kelly this would be shedua and most likely a 67 or 68? thx!

From: Kelly

NO, this is Bubinga and early 1967, the logo is a transition logo that was used when Head Ski bought the company but after Bob Lee moved Wing to Jacksonville from Houston.

FYI, there is another one that is 48# on the big site as well as a LH one with rosewood handle(1962-63).

Ah...ok...yeah there seems to be a bit of a flood lately on the big site for Wings...thanks Kelly!

Also, there's a Howatt Century 21 listed--looks pretty clean---haven't seen one of those before

They are underrated. They are good smooth shooters. I have a 49 pounder I won't part with. Mine shoots heavy arrows well. Unstring one and look at the profile, it looks like the bow is one big limb with a bump in the middle for a handle.

Good to hear...still waiting on this one to arrive..USPS now says "delayed in transit". Ah well. An exercise in patience that I can surely use 8^)

Oh, glad to see from Kelly's comments that I got the dating and riser material right. Got the wrong state for Jacksonville! (I'm from Canada.)

Did not know about the decals vs silkscreens for the three years of bubinga bows...thanks Kelly. I've learned a lot from you!

The decal for the 1956-early 1966 will be gold colored.
