I just want to say that I have been one of many that have looked and asked several questions here and other places as well about my Howatt recurves I have gotten from folks that I was given and bought. This thread is just to let Mr. Hatfield know just how much we appreciate him in helping us date these bows the "Best" he remembers. I appreciate that our God has given this man to us who has been a very big help to many and was a very important man that helped in the designing of many bows from the 60's,70's and until the original doors closed. This thread isn't to ask Mr. Hatfield any questions about a bow or date something But instead just to say We appreciate "All" you have done and hopefully will continue to do in the future. If any of you folks are reading this and have a picture of you and Mr. Hatfield please post it but questions should be asked on another thread pertaining to bows. Thank you Mr. Hatfield for your time helping each and every one of us in any way you can and have done. I have learned much from you and Lord willing I can still learn more. God Bless, Keefer's <')))><

Mr. Hatfield, Thank you for the helpful info about my mid 50's Mamba, though I believe it preceded you time with Howatt. God Bless, Martin Acts 2:36-41

My thanks as well Mr. Hatfield, for answering any question I've asked, as well as the tremendous amount of knowledge you're willing to share on this site.

Mr. Hatfield thank you for all the great information and helpful replies over the years. God bless..

The heck with Howatts; I just want more stories about busting broncs, digging up land mines, lassoing trespassers...and more of those Cambodian recipes too!

From: Keoneloa

I agree 100% I have been reading and on this site for only a few months ;Larry Hatfields experience and knowledge are invaluable.

I'm in. I'm always happy to see what Larry brings whenever he comments about Howatts or other topics. He's given valuable information about a couple of my bows as well. One of my favorite quotes from him went something like "there are no degrees of dead" during one of the many broadhead effectiveness threads. That one made me laugh. Thank you Mr. Hatfield!

From: Pdiddly

I'm with crookedstix...like the bow knowledge but appreciate the rest of Larry's anecdotes of a life well lived and continuing!!

Appreciate Larry's opinion because it is always informed...recent wolf debate was a perfect example.

I like Larry's tolerance of others as well. Fits with my beliefs.

Thanks for the thread!

I have owned 3 different Howatts and recently arranged to buy another from the classifieds. When you can sit and hold a bow, and have someone tell you why they designed it a certain way, why it's made from a certain wood, when it was made etc, it just makes the bow that much more special. I hope Larry Hatfield keeps offering his knowledge on this sight for a long, long time.

I also enjoy Larry's posts, whether it's about bows or a "life" story. I was able to check the archives to find out what Larry had to say about the Howatt Balboa after I acquired one last summer. Thanks for your contributions to the Leatherwall.

I had to chuckle when I read Larry's post on another thread saying that he may not remember one detail about Howatt bows.

Larry, you forgot more about Howatt bows than any of us will ever know. Not only that but all of your hunting experience gives tremendous credibility to the things you post here. Like gluetrap, I look for your name first to see if you've posted an answer to a question knowing I'm getting solid information.

There is a Martin Hatfield takedown for sale over on the big auction site that has the inscription "Stolen from Larry Hatfield" I can only imagine there is a story to go along with it. I am almost afraid to ask because it may indicate a close friend is not doing as good as one would like. If I don't ask, we may not ever know. On another note, Good luck with your surgery. Hopefully we will not anger you with silly things on the LW whilst you recover. Thanks Tony

Is it a non typical riser with a lot of curves on it? I sold one like that to a fellow in Oregon a few years back. He owns it! Can do what he wants with it. Wrote that on the riser because I showed it to Gail and Dan Martin when we went on an elk hunt and I wanted to keep the riser.

From: grizzly
Date: 02-May-16

Darn good looking bow. Cant say I have studied enough about take downs to answer the question. Two toned riser, possibly bubinga and a blonder wood? Probably good thing it is right handed or I might be posting pictures of it. Thought I might have heard part of that story before. Good to know. Thanks

My wife has a Viper. I have an older Hunter and Mamba and am in the process of acquiring another Mamba from Wingstrut and an older Savannah. Mr. Hatfield has been generous with his time and knowledge and patience for those of us who come to him and the LW with questions. I can't thank him enough for helping to create great bows and a source of knowledge here.

Sold my Venom but it will always be the best longbow I ever owned. Fast as blazes. Nice grip. Quiet. Only sold it because the draw weight was a bit high.

"Disarming Mines", now there's a days work. Sir you have taken Gods gift and certainly made the most of it. I have always enjoyed the insight and wisdom that you have shared with us over the years. If you haven't already I would hope at some point that you would take the time to put some of your experiences and thoughts in a book and from some of the pictures you've posted include a section on cooking:)
