any owners out there that shoot them? Pros/cons? years?

I had one. Great shooting bow.

I have a mid 60's TG which is 62" and feel it is every bit as good as any Bear from that era. I've never chronographed the bow, but know is no old dog. It's a perfect bow if have a longer draw.

My daughter has the version that's 56" (mid 70's era). It has the profile of the bear Kodiak. Truth be told, I'm not impressed with it. Not smooth at all. Just my 2 cents.

Have a '67 that my nephew is currently using. It's a real nice shooter.

From: nrthernrebel05

would the 62" work for someone with a 27" draw?

From: Stix
Date: 12-Apr-16

My daughter pulls 25 with her 56" and she likes it, for me it is unstable at my 28" draw. I never tried the 62" though.

I have two in the shop at the moment, a '68 and '69. They are actually more of a 64", tho' marked 62". The '68 is a beauty with Zebrawood/black glass, and though not so marked has Fascore limbs. Same profile in '69, but Shedua and brick red glass, regular laminations.

I'd describe them as a stretched Grizzly or re-use of earlier '60s Kodiak Special forms.

And as is typical of Bears, they draw long and smooth. Yes, depending on the vintage, sweet shooters.

I seem to recall the tigercat having dual ratings for different brace heights, is that right?

I had a 62" late 60's tigercat. Very nice bow, wish I would of kept that one.

I've got a 69, 35# that I really like. I put some copperhead limbsations on. It's a great warm up/ form practice bow. Wish I had a 40#'er.

Here's a 62" 50# I got at the local Goodwill for cheap. it's a mid- 60's.

I shoot mine at least 6 days a week. 50#, 62", got my first bow deer with it when it was new. I just noticed some longitude cracks in the glass on the back of top and bottom limbs, wondering if it's about to break. Chrono'ed around 164 fps with 575 gr alums about a year ago but I don't know if those cracks were there then. Love to shoot it, so smooth. I have a 60", 50# Wing Chaparral that's a little faster but not near as accurate ( for me).

I have my Dad's mid '60s 45# 62". It also has some fine cracks in the brown glass on the back of both limbs. I always liked it.

Here are the two I mentioned above alongside a '60 64" Kodiak Special Deluxe to show why I suspect the Tigercat was built on older Kodiak Special and/or Polar forms. A bit deceptive since the Kodiak is closer to the camera, but the heritage is obvious.

Tigercat 40# was one of my first big boy bow I had back in the early 60s, was hardly any deer around but killed carp, rabbits, squirrels and thump a few feral cats.

The Tigercat came in three different styles, all with different shooting characteristics. The 62", in my opinion, was the best of those models...pre 1970. They are smooth and fast, and I think they were introduced to replace the 62" length void left when the Grizzly went to 58" in 1964. In 1970, Bear made them in a 58" length. Still a nice bow, but more compact to fill the hunter niche. They reintroduced it around 1975 as a 56" bow that was not too popular since the compound bow at that time was wreaking havoc on the sport and taking 90% of sales.

I have a 1968 Tigercat 50# 62" zebra wood riser and black glass. I haven't shot it much because of a shoulder problem, but the little shooting I did impressed me with its smooth draw and ability to launch an arrow with as much authority as my expensive customs. I don't have a chronograph. I rely on my calibrated eyeball.

I'll sell you a 66. I think it is 39lb Tedd

First bow was a Tigercat, 62", brown glass, good looking bow. Mostly pretty smooth, I,'ve got a 31 1/2" draw, seems like it starts to stack a little towards the end of the draw.. Don't think you,d have any trouble at all with a 27" draw, and a pretty sweet grip on them. At least for my paws..

I have the 70's version in 56" I like it well enough especially with the heavier poundage for me. Mine is 61lbs.

I have a 1969 Tiger Cat, 62" and 45#@28". It's a great bow. I absolutely love the grip on it. Wish it was about 5 pounds heavier.

Steve, that's a really nice looking T-Cat. My 62'' version is becoming a favorite.

I'll have to admit I haven't actually even shot that TC! I bought the two light bows coming off multiple shoulder surgeries and the Hoyt was lighter so I picked it up first and have kept using it when the tired bones call for light weight.

My wife shoots one when we go stumping. It's a 25# made in 1969.
