I will pick up from last night, I was asking about hoyt one piece recurve age. Well here it is. I bought this hoyt pro hunter, its 58 inch and 50lb. No stress lines. A few scratches and a couple of dings but nothing much. I'm very happy with the looks of it. Feels good in hand but at my draw it is starting to stack a little . Not much but you can tell its there. My draw is little over 29 inch. Have not shot it yet. But will tomorrow after work. So what y'all think the age is ? I bought this bow and 2 more recurves and 3 dozen arrows , 2 hip quivers, 3gloves, 1 tab. 3 arm guards , bow holder for yard, broad heads , field tips , feathers and more . It was my buy of the year. They just wanted it gone! Lol

What a cool bow! I draw about what your do and I would be tempted to alter my form a bit when I wanted to use it. Lean forward and push your face forward and you might be able to lose an inch of draw length without messing your string arm and shoulder position very much.

Or open your front shoulder like Howard Hill did. He was about six two and only drew about 26". You could also get a Howard Hill glove (thick) and grip the string off your finger tips.

A lot of guys shot one or all of those ways all the time and wonder why their draw is so short. .I am all the time trying to get people to go the other way but to make good use of that fine bow I would be willing to backslide.

Looks like a Kodiak Hunter that Fred was using up leftovers on!

The "stack" isn't going to hurt anything. It just let' you know your at full draw. Nice bow, but I would NEVER alter my form to shoot any bow.

I like my form I use to shoot. Spent alot of time getting it down. It works for me and I shoot very good with it. Want change my form , a little stack never hurt no one. Lol

Barber...I was in the old Archery World store in Austin, Texas several years ago. There was this old bow that came in with a Pro Hunter that was beat to snot. he had the finish worn off the grip, all cosmetic stuff, but you could tell he used it a bunch.

There were some regulars hanging out there that they were good shooters. He ABSOLUTELY lit them up with that thing. It was funny because the Black Widow contingent that was always present just stood and watched with their mouth's open.

Don't alter anything. Those bows will take draws well past 29" and do just fine. I don't know where the limited draw idea came from, but guys back then were pulling long draws too. That bow won't stack to 29", and if you feel anything it's string angle. You need to use a scale and force draw scale to show stack. I've owned several of them over the years and they are fine bows. It's a mid 70's bow. The early ones didn't have any impregnated wood in them.

Shot the bow for a while this afternoon and it is a very nice shooting bow. I'm very glad I bought it. This one will probly stay with me for a long time. You know some bows you buy you know you will only have for a little while because you will use them to swap for another one and some bows once you purchase them you know they will have to stay around. Going to shoot a lot more with it tomorrow after church.

I also took that Hoyt stick on rest off and put a calf hair rest on it. Never cared much for a rest.

I have an older one with a beautiful walnut I-beam...I'll post some pics. The older models have a bit more work in the riser.

Another one I acquired was made by Hoyt for Whiffen and is called a Comet. It's 58" and a Pro-Hunter except in name.

As you have found they are a quality recurve. Those small tips contribute to good limb speed but I always need to double check carefully when stringing to make sure the loops are well into the grooves, especially the bottom one in the pocket of the stringer.

I shoot both of them off the shelf...
