Just picked up some 40# Samick Sage limbs cheap.

Thinking about drilling them for the pin holes on my firefly riser. Any problems with drilling into the limb glass? Drill press with tape over the glass to prevent splintering?

Or I might use them for a Quarf conversion on my Darton SL50 riser.

Also, does anyone know the standard pad angle of the sage? Thanks, trying to determine gain in poundage off the limbs.

I have drilled those limbs and used JB weld to convert those limbs on a Quinn stallion. used those limbs for a Hoyt hunt master td bow. Warning do not drill to deep use epoxy or JB weld for adhesive. Those are long limbs so your dimensions will change.

As mentioned, mark the drill bit and don't drill too deep. No big thing. Use a pair of limbs that fit the riser you want to adapt them to as to make a jig.

Yes, I have done it with success, to put those limbs on a Ragim Wildcat riser.

If you were going to drill through fibreglass I have found that a sheet metal grind profile on the drill bit cuts a clean hole with no splinters or splits. It is basically a relieved angle with a central point with ears on the outer edge.I grind these on the corner of my grinding wheel.A conventional bit can grab and pull through uncontrolably and ruin the job. Here is a rough diagram A sheetetal grind and a conventional grind.I can't draw too good. HEADS UP:

I found that the black color on the sage limb is not all the way thru the glass. The color will sand right off, so be careful if you have to do any sanding on the face of the glass.

Thanks, I still might use this info on another project, but for the time being the sage limbs are on my Frakenbow project. See my other thread.

Thanks for the heads up jamesV.
