With not being able to mention politics on any forums, it keeps those that know particular things only being able to preach to the choir. I had heard that Donald senior has eaten venison. I imagine, that some would think it is high class over the top eclectic dining like pheasant under glass, not knowing that it came from his down to earth son. But then again, those of us that eat a considerable amount of wild game and fish are eating high class over the top eclectic food. That will give the peta and elite liberals something stir over.

I feel better about Mr. Trump as times goes on. Glad to know a politician running for our highest office has the courage to fight for common sense without being ashamed of being an American. Gee, I was worried there for a minute that this might be a political endorsement but then I clicked on the interview and saw the last segment was "what would Donald trump's presidency do for us millions of hunters?" Set my mind right at ease, just a good old boy shootin' the breeze, I'm almost embarrassed to have thought it might have been politically motivated.

First, I actually listened to all segments of the interview and hope everyone else who has or decides to opine did/does as well. Shouldn't have to say that, but ahhhh, you know how things can get around here. :)
Pat, the interview was very well done and I mean that. Did not take it as a reflection of management's politics(as some allude), but rather a frank discussion with an obviously knowledgeable interviewer and interviewee. Trump's not faking it guys, the man knows his stuff and that's a good thing.
I sure don't think it hurts to have a person of some notoriety or another helping in some positive way in support our lifestyle and related causes. To be staunch, articulate, educated and vocal with a podium handy can be a really good thing for all involved.
For a man who grew up in the lap of luxury, he sure does appear genuine at heart and doesn't shy away from his heritage, family and friends. In some ways or others, I'm certain most, if not all here can identify. Really.....I'd hunt with him any day.

Real good interview, he seems like a nice enough guy & very articulate spokesman for bow hunters rights. I think most if not all of us on this site enjoy the right to hunt & or own arms. That in itself should put most if not all of us on common ground politically. Political correctness has darn near destroyed this Country & the time for silence is no more.

REALLY? That's the la la logic many people are tired of being force fed.
Pat,
Great interview, thank you.
Guys,
You have to understand that the bond we have as traditional bowmen doesn't go beyond, to some of the more important issues of life. Remember the pictures of Paul Ryan, the bow hunter? His wise choice of hunting gear doesn't insure his stance on political truth and moral integrity, any more than it does your own.

If I had his money, I would do more DIY. Just because you have money, no reason to miss out on the good stuff. Why go do a guided hunt when you could own the same area if you were Ted Turner. And i wouldn't pass up on stuff I enjoy like fly tying if I could do it.
I'm joking a bit about Ted Turner, but in the real world, if you are poor, you do it yourself; if you are rich you join a club, or hire a guide; But if you are really rich like the Royal family you have your own hunting lands (just as lots of us do), and it is back to doing it yourself. If you are Puttin you can do it in National Parks...

Pat that was interesting. Like I said before he came from wealthy parents and from the city. I know because my aunt lived 2 doors from his family and my uncle was a plumber and worked as a sub contractor on Trump projects. My cousins don't hunt. But Donald Trump's son does. I think that's great that he came came from this background and got into hunting. I wish we could get more people to do that. It's a better lifestyle for young people than running around all night and getting into trouble and drugs.

Thanks for the great comments guys I'm glad you liked the interview. As I said in there somewhere the outdoors has been good to me and kept me out of a lot of outer trouble I could have gotten into growing up, so when I get a chance to try to represent it in a positive light and get others into it I always do my best. I'm just trying to make sure the same outdoor opportunities I had growing up are there for my 5 kids and their kids after them, so they can get the same benefits from it that I did.
Reddogge: I have been here and elsewhere for a while so I very well could have learned form you as I have from others and I hope some of my commentary has helped others too. Being self taught Trad I've made all the mistakes in the book but when you struggle and figure out how to fix it you tend not to forget.

Sorry Pat, and Bob Rowlands, for my earlier comment, it was meant to be a joke, an it was removed, as it should have been, but in retrospect I can see how it was hurtful. I should never have mentioned "her" and Bob in the same statement.
But Don Jr. isn't running for office, so this isn't political, he's simply a somewhat well known guy who digs on traditional archery and the outdoors> Sort of like the post about Genna Davis and her Olympic archery pursuits.

Great interview, Pat.
I learned That Don Jr. Was a bowhunter back in 07 I believe. I was talking to David Allen Sosa (DAS) on the phone one day, and he told me about a fellow that recently called and that he'd ordered two bows. Said his name was Donald Trump Jr. At first, David thought it was a joke, but turned out it wasn't. He even offered to take David hunting on a private island via helicopter.

Good interview - I appreciate his strong and very public support of maintaining Public Lands under federal control. He helped choose Rep. Ryan Zinke, another promoter of federal Public Lands as Interior Secretary and has stated repeatedly that he will be a loud voice in his father's ear on this issue.

"I am unapologetically a Donald Trump supporter and watching your father's inauguration speech today made me extremely proud."
Me too!
Whether you like him or not, what a historic invent today was.
All of the odds were stacked against him in the beginning, and he came out on top in the end.
It's been truly amazing to witness.
I think he'll do good things for this nation in the coming years.
Looking forward to it.

Well thank god fore Slovenia keeping their rich hunting heritage alive and well. My god I'm sick of the left wing celebrity winning. They picked the hill dog, not me. I didn't go shoot people and burn cars when the last one got elected. Sorry, just had to vent! I'm thrilled to have a member of America's first family be an outdoorsman of any kind. For many years I have thought that having some archery targets on the White House grounds would be a good thing. We all know that archery is a great stress reliever so it might be very beneficial for the staff.
I am very glad that we have a significant change in the swamp management because every organization needs to be shaken up,downsized and reorganized periodically or it becomes inefficient.
Having an outdoorsman as the President's son and an outdoorsman as Interior Secretary is a big plus for all of us. By the way, Rep. Ryan Zinke served many years as a Navy SEAL officer before his retirement.

I really, really don’t get it. You wear your “Lets Make America Great Again” trump hats (that are made in either China or Vietnam by the way)… which apparently shows you care for the United States.
But, then you see these ties trump has to Russia that are verified by 17 different intelligence agencies . Of course trump says ALL 17 agencies are in collusion against him. But, even before trump was nominated it was said he borrowed 5 to 6 hundred million from russia because no bank would lend him money because of his bankruptcies. To me that’s a red flag in itself. Doesn’t this connection concern you for our country?
I personally believe President Reagan would be rolling over in his grave if he saw the trump/russian connection… even to the point that I believe Reagon would call him a traitor. Trump sure has said a lot of bad things about fellow Americans, but NEVER ONCE has he said anything bad about russia or putin. I used to vote republican. I’m not trying to cause trouble here… just trying to understand. thanks

Foxhall, just a couple things in response to your comments. First off, be careful when you trust what "they" are saying. Question your resources. I for one don't trust most of the folks on TV or radio any farther than I could throw the whole lot of em. Secondly, yes Trump has said some things that could be considered derogatory. But take a look back and you will typically find that "someone" had already took their stab at him. When he responds to that criticism, then he becomes the bad guy. Not sure about you, but when a man slaps me in the face, I typically like to defend myself. And lastly, there isn't a person out there we're gonna see 100% eye to eye with. When we vote, we have to pick the one that's closest to our core values, or don't vote at all. I personally didn't feel the other candidate gave us a choice in that matter, especially if your a sportsman. I for one am planning on being less dependent on what "they" say, and will let the man's actions be the foundation for my opinions.

Though he is a bowhunter, be wary of trusting Paul Ryan's commitment to public lands. His "Path to Prosperity" budget resolution blueprint for 2013 proposed putting millions of acres of publicly owned land up for sale to help balance the budget. Per other comments, be very careful about trusting what "they" say. Actions speak far louder than words.

Sharing ideas and expressing opinions on a public forum is what they are all about; anyone presenting a topic takes a risk that discussion may get lively - moderators keep it civil.
Attacking other members directly for sharing something they disagree with as "crying and whining" is a very different kind of exression.

This thread was dead until someone decided to make another statement to propagate those same issues. Well, you can't fix stupid, you can't cure ignorance, and you can rarely change the minds of cultists, conspiracy theorists, and racists. You can feel sorry for those people though. Guys, let's not get wedgies over this. Don Junior hunts with a recurve and that makes him a brother of the bow and I am very glad that we can have him as an ally. I didn't notice any other families on the ticket that I could possibly consider allies.
So far, I see cabinet choices of highly successful people who have made it on competitive merit, rather than beaurocrats, lawyers and pompous professors.
My sweet wife told me that Saturday the new President got more fat women walking than any time in the past eight years. Not a bad start for an improved health program, I'd say.
I'm really hopeful for this change.

I have always thought Don Jr. was a solid person and held him in high regard based on seeing his interviews on tv, but now this interview has removed all doubt that the man is the genuine article. So Don, Jr., if you happen to read this, thank you for agreeing to do the interview and telling us about yourself, your family, and your upbringing, and for doing what you are for the sports and the outdoors. Just thanks for having a good head on your shoulders and be willing to share your ideas and feelings with the rest of us. You know I have seen people complain about President Trump and his "Supposed" relationship with Russia. The information that was put out has never been denied as to it being incorrect. Should anyone be allow to hack? Does our country hack, yeah, to believe other wise your lying to yourself. The difference is it was used on us this time. Has anyone heard the statement "Keep your friends close and your enemy closer.". If people really paid attention to Trumps speeches before he became President? If memory serves me right, this is not a exact quote but it is something like this: You don't tell your enemy WHAT you are planning on doing. I didn't vote for Trump when we were picking a Republican Candidate, but I am going to set back and watch and give him a chance to see what he does. I have know for some time that Donald Jr. hunted, as well his brother. Gives me a little faith that their dad has his feet planted in the right place. President Trump was not created from the political machine that so many politicians that have run this country have come from. He worked to get to where he has been as a business man, "I" believe he respects the people who put him there, and I believe he respects the citizens of this country that has put him where he is at now. We shall see how his ideas for what he want to do pans out.

Hey, if there's somebody willing to pay that and they think it's worth it, then who are we to pass judgement?!? For example...there's a couple brothers down in Iowa that charge guys to come learn how to scout for deer and place stands...and for even more money they will come to you, walk your property, and put a big fat red "X" on a map telling you right where you should sit! Would you pay for that? I wouldn't, but to each their own and kudos to the brothers who can make a dime without holding a gun to anyone's head. Free Country!
