Thanks Paul/Terry , Marsha there is no charge but we stay full so if you are interested in setting up I would need to know what size area you have/what you sell and then see if I have room. We stay booked most of the time but some fall out for one reason or the other and we fill it with others. We don't try and have the most vendors but we try to keep quality ones that lets all the folks that come fill there needs plus helps the vendors do good by not having a lot selling the same stuff. Huge crowd last year, but still Pappy and his crew did a fantastic job accommodating everyone.

I have heard, however, if you are a Vendor, ya need to contact Pappy to get a spot cause they're growing by leaps & bounds.

Pappy, here are a few samples of the items that we will have....plus some fleece bow socks (longbow and recurve) and some wood crosses. All items are hand crafted. Need 10x10 (we have tent, table, etc). Do not need electricity. If you have room just let me know. If you don't have room, please put me on the waiting list. Thank you. Either way, we will see you. I bet you can Eddie. That's some pretty stuff Marsha, I will let you know as soon as I get it all figured out. We are getting lots of vendor request and I am slowly contacting the regulars to see who is and is not planning on coming as soon as I get that info I will let you know. We usually have a few that will drop out each year and we fill with others waiting.Good problem to have I guess but gets tough to figure out sometimes. Pappy

I have been strictly a selfbow shooter for the last 4 years. If I were to try to make the Classic or the IBO worlds which would you recommend. If I can, I could only make one or the other. Long way from Kansas and expensive, and no paid vacation.

From: THarris
Date: 27-Jan-16

In my opinion, if you could only make one, make it to the Twin Oaks Classic.

I love them both and the IBO Trad. World is an outstanding event, but because there's so many self bow shooters and new self bow makers, making their own self bows, you really want to be there then.

You can go wrong either way, plus there are many more Vendors.

If I'm not mistaken there were well over 650 shooters at the Classic last year and the weather was absolutely perfect.

Terry Harris

From: Pappy 1
Date: 28-Jan-16

We had a good self bow turn out for the IBO world last year and I feel like it will be even better this year,Not sure it will every match the TN. Classis in that regard. We had over 90 built last year in the self bow challenge and 75/80 in the normal self bow class, it was getting close to the Long bow numbers as far as shooters go.Recurve is still by far King in numbers and probably always will be. If you like to see a lot of self bows it would be hard to beat the Classic, if you want to compete with some world class Self bow shooters then the IBO world might be a better choice even though we have some mighty fine shooters at the Classic. Decisions decisions. Pappy

I just renewed my interest in traditional last winter (Longbow). If at all possible I am hoping to attend. What about tent camping? Cost? My wife is a non shooter but excellent in photography & attends sometimes just to take photos & then make albums & share for all the archers on the net.. She went to the NFAA Nationals with me last July & made many archers happy with photos they could take off her posting. Anyway, I'm looking forward to this gathering if nothing happens between now & then..

Mike the address is 1079 Ashley rd. Chapmansboro, TN. 37035.Might try GPS or map quest if you have that. I would say you would come in I40 to Nashville, TN.and then 24w out toward Clarksville, TN. /Fort Campbell,ky. We are west of Nashville about 30 + miles. off I24 at exit 19 We have lots from that area so maybe someone will chime in with better directions. John we have lots of tent campers, no hook up but water and fire wood on site, no charge and you wife we be very welcome. Ya Roger lots of history around that area. Paul hope to see you maybe in a few weeks at our first shoot, maybe pick out a stave.Directions from Nashville are on our new web site. [Twinoaksbowhunters.org] Pappy

DON'T GO............ IF YOU DO, YOU'LL GET ADDICTED LIKE ME!!!!

You will be hard pressed to find a BETTER Traditional Archery event anywhere in this country.

I got hooked years ago and can't wait for this year as well.

Brian, I put on two events myself and I know what goes into one.

In my opinion, you won't find a better group of people that are organized, family oriented, fun loving and have a mission to make sure that your visit is worth the trip to the Twin Oaks Classic.

Pappy's only problem has been getting folks to leave, LOL.

NOW, leave the "about convinced" out and just put "CONVINCED" in your mindset.

You'll be glad you did.

Terry, I am almost there. I have heard about it for several years and think this might just be the year to join the fun. I am trying to find someone from here that would like to make the trip with me. If not I bet someone there would welcome me around their campfire. Just hate being the new kid, lol. Pappy, if I make it, would probably be camping. Would I be able to stay Sunday night and head out on Monday morning?

From: Bentstick54
Date: 13-Feb-16

Sorry, do have another question. Are there arrow restrictions for the different bow classes, and could I shot same selfbow in longbow or recurve class? What type of scoring is done. 12,10,8,5,0, or kill, wound, or miss. Thanks.

From: Pappy 1
Date: 15-Feb-16

Yes I have several that stay over Sunday and leave Monday, I will be there so that is fine. No arrow restriction except for selfbow, then it has to be wood /Cain. We have a self bow class but if you want to shoot it in longbow that's fine, you can always move up A class with what some may call lesser equipment LOL. Score is center 11/10/8/5/x and yes you will be welcome around the camp fire for sure. Pappy

If you don't shoot for award, can you shoot all of the 3D targets, how many do you have out? What would the cost be?

From: eddie c
Date: 23-Feb-16

Twin Oaks is one place that I wish I could set my camper up on blocks and leave it there so I can attend shoots year round. LOL. I was having my doubts about being able to attend this year but things have changed. I may get to elbow my way into a camping spot.

From: Clydebow
Date: 23-Feb-16

$20. for adults. 41 competition targets plus a practice range with 3D targets range. Practice range is unlimited shooting. One of those 41 targets is an optional steel bonus target.

From: haroldwbabcock
Date: 23-Feb-16

Can you shoot the competition range for fun as well as the practice rante?

From: Pappy
Date: 24-Feb-16

You can only shoot the competition rang once per registration. You don't have to keep score if you don't want to. You can shoot the practice all you want after you register. I think I know what you are asking Harold, you can't shoot the main cores over and over for fun, unless you register in another class, some shoot it in Long bow/Recurve and selfbow but you must register for each. By the way we do have a nice practice course you can shoot you arm off on it. Pappy

Clyde, thanks for the response. Make no mistake, its not for me......can't abide the setups! :o) But, I think what is confusing us is the event on the twin oaks website only says recurve, longbow, selfbow. Of course, those could just be generalizations of categories. Julie and I were there a couple years ago and I just cant remember what all categories there were. Heck Kurt, the open easy shots are the ones I miss, lol. I grew up shooting thru the holes in the brush, but will shoot them all, even try my luck on the steel fox. Being 11 or 12 hours from home just want to bring enough arrows to last 3 or 4 days. Been to some shoots with some pretty crazy shots and I am just crazy enough to waste a few arrows in fun. Counting the days.

From: Pappy
Date: 08-Apr-16

Shouldn't have a problem with arrows, we try and set targets up with some type of back stop if we can , you may have to lean or squat a little but most shots will be hunting range and at least a good hole to shot through, if you can fine it. LOL I just looked at the range set up list and there will be lots of large stuff, Moose/Elk/Boo/Buff/bear and such. May be a Turkey or 2 thrown in for good measure.I will guarantee it will be a fun range to shoot, the practice will also be set up nice, we already have most of it done, just needs a little markings and tweaking. Ya we are hoping for good weather , but you never know about that. We have been working in preparation for rain as it seems it always does so we try and get ahead of the game if we can. We also laid out the ranges Saturday and hauled the targets to the woods and have the trophies ready to put together ,done a lot more clean and straighten so things are beginning to come together. We have a meeting and working this coming weekend to put the final touches on things. We always have a bunch come in early so we try and be ready at least a week in advance. See yall in a few weeks. I pulled out the tent when I got home , looked at the sun and thought' uumm, 30 minutes to sunset. I wonder if I can put it up before dark?'. And the challenge began. Sine I probably won't get there until after 6 on Friday I wanted to see if I could remember how. 15 minutes after the sun set I was walking in the house. Told my wife it was a tad bigger than I remembered. Then she said 'yep, I might go with you after all'. :> o First time the tent had been set up since before 2003. I was surprised it didn't rip.

Sorry to hear that Richard but a man has to keep his priorities in line. Yes Brian that will be fine, we have all kinds of stuff brought up and it is set up like a Church dinner, TwinOaks does 25 deer shoulder and 50lbs of taters and such along with all the stuff the wives make and then we just add in what other bring and have a feast. Lots of folks that come and stay all week have special camp dishes they bring but anything is welcome, we usually feed 500 or so and with the help we get from yall we always manage to get every one full. Except maybe Big Jim. LOL We close the concessions at 3pm Saturday and have the raffle drawing and pot luck at 6pm if all go according to plan. Pappy

Speaking of one of the Vendors making it again this year. Teresa & Fred Asbell will be there with her excellent wool vests and jackets and of course there is Fred, LOL. What great folks.

NOW, IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR AN EXCELLENT BOW SOCK for your recurve or longbow, LOOK NO FURTHER!!!

Got here this morning and set up camp. Friends Eric and Angie arrived a couple hours later to set up. For dinner, Eric cooked a pork loin over an open fire, and Angie made mixed vegetables and mac&cheese. So of course, I ate with them. Took a walk right before dark, and Angie found two mushrooms. We will be heading back there tomorrow morning after it gets light to see if we are luck enough to find more.

Brian, I am set up at my usual spot next to the creek bridge at the far end of the road with my Clydebow sign on my easy-up. Will be heading home Wednesday morning, and come back Thursday evening with wife and grandson.
