Finally got back to my ILF's and put some pockets on a riser. I'm not liking it and not sure what to do. Put a lot of time and change in it to get to this point,

I've always worked with 2" platforms on recurves. With out the pockets I can blend the width of the riser into the limbs. It hides just how beefy the riser is. But it looks naked with the end of the limbs exposed. So I spent some time and change to build pockets. The side view looks great. But from the shooters view the riser looks thick. If I taper it down to the limbs going to mess up the pockets and the side view of the riser.

Not sure what the hell to do now. Open to suggestions

Is it possible to put a crowned edge around the limb pockets? Then shape and taper the riser and grip to get rid of the blockiness. Make it look like the early Bear metal compound risers.

Rob..

Yes I can round the edges quite a bit, but don't think it will get rid of the width difference in the long run.

Thanks, OB

Maybe just accept the fact that all ILFs are ugly and go on! Just teasing......poking the ILF Bear. :o) I am sure you will work it out.....judging from some of your other work you have posted on here. Regards

They are hard to beat for tunability and interchange options. However, weights above 45# dont feel right to me. Like you say not much of a base.

Thanks again fellows. Do what I can with it. Giving the riser to a south paw friend of mine. He likes it!

May abandon the pocket idea altogether. Don't care much for the ones that butt a piece of wood behind the limbs either.

Big problem is I was going to use the pockets to lower my grip in relationship to the limbs on the next riser. It will make a smoother ILF going a little more riser forward.

Best made plans of mice and man! LOL Sometimes you just got to build the thing to see what you don't like

Taper the side of the riser facing the shooter. God Bless

Was thinking about that today WV. Pretty much have a free hand on it.
