I rounded up some buddies for a stickbow rabbit hunt yesterday. My son,Preston, and Mitch all got a shot but we had no kills for the day. Despite the missed rabbits,we still had an absolute blast!! L-R Preston,me,Mitch,Dave, and my son Gabe in front. GO OSU!!!!!

Sounds like fun. All except for having to stand on your head for the picture. That don't look like fun at all. 8^)

A close second to deer hunting with the bow, IMHO! I cannot wait for our first dusting of snow. Makes it a helluva lot easier.

Yep, great noses and very selective hearing, that's beagles for you.

Start making them flu flu arrows. There easier to find.

Awsome, put's all the meaning into hound hunts with sticks. Great pictures too. Best of all teaching youngin what sticks are about.

woodshavins, deer hunting with the bow takes second fiddle to me when it comes to rabbits, pheasants and squirrels. Longer seasons, smaller targets, and easier to share hunts with friends. I'll take it anytime over deer bowhunting. Like your photo.

Phew! For a second there I thought this was an update from Australia....

Looks like fun to me, man! For a number of years my dad, brothers and I used to meet up with one of my dad's buddies for an after-Christmas dog-training bird-shoot. What I wouldn't give for another one o' those....

Make those memories!

Love that sound of little beagles voices coming toward you... Memories for sure for all to last a life time!

When I hunted with a shotgun, rabbits with beagles was the most fun I had hunting. If I ever get back to the scatter gun, it will be rabbits and a beagle.

I hunt pheasants with the shotgun. I don't give up the things I have always loved just to focus on one sport. Life's too short. Fred Bear himself loved hunting over dogs with a shotgun. I have an over/under Charles Daly that was my father-in-law's gun, so I hunt for me and for Buck. Likely he would be happy about that. I'm taking the lever gun..Marlin 336... out Monday for our first day of rifle season too. It's our tradition. I'll get back to the bow after the first day and in the late season.

Went out this morning. Saw lots of bunnies and jackrabbits, always moving. I did put an arrow half thru one that made it under a barn, and then wacked one solidly. It was 9 degrees this morning, nose dripping eye watering degrees. Would not trade an early morning hunt.....

Small game hunting is the most fun,, that little feller looks like he's ready to go.

George Stout, like you I love to hunt squirrels and rabbits with the longbow and wood arrows, but for me nothing beats those close longbow encounters with mature whitetails. That said, I still get out for gun season with my non-bow hunting brothers and friends for the tradition and camaraderie. And it is nice to see the deer drop in its tracks when that 12 gauge booms!

Back in the 60s and 70s, some club guys would get together alm0st weekly (after deer season,) and hunt rabbits with our bows. We didn't have dogs so took turns driving them. Lots of fun!!!

Looks like great luck to me. A great morning
