I think we should bring back capital punishment. what else will deter crime like that.

Unless you know the person for awhile...never...never...never send the bow without getting the payment in hand and substantiating that it's valid.

You are right, just trying to help him get in the woods.Always this kind out there in the world Terry

You're not the firs nor the last to trust someone. That shows where your heart is. Unfortunately, people take advantage of that very trait. Karma is a bitch though, so likely he will have his own issues sometime.

From: Jim D

Agree with George, "Karma is a bitch". It will catch up with him.

From: kodiaktd

I say give the address to bigdog21.

Or send the guy a certified letter from your attorney.

Christmas times a coming and we probably will see another scam like the one that involved Traditionalist and Justin Vinci a couple of years ago, on here and on Trad Gang. "NEED FREE items foe a POOR boy just starting out. GIVE 'till it hurts!!!" LOL bvd

From: Dkincaid
Date: 22-Nov-15

What is his handle

From: RymanCat
Date: 22-Nov-15

Sorry that's totally on you and now you cry about this. Common sence like George commented should be enough to not allow yourself to be taken advantage like this of you. If anyone else falls to this then thats also on them. If you don't know the guy or know of them in threads or ask others about then steer clear.

Its the seasons to give and help at any time but that don't mean the satanic powers aren't at work looking to devour someone it surrounds everyone of us. We all have to be prudent and its not about meeting someone elses needs its about do they really need it we are to ask the questions then seek the direction. If you did that then leave it in the hands of the maker for them to be convicted over this?

Be carefull and be aware its out there going on.

Guys,I am not on here looking for sympathy.I probably deal with more traditional archery folks in a week than most of you will in a year.I ship all over the lower 48 plus Alaska and Canada.Just trying to give everyone a heads up on this person. Terry

From: COPicasso

Post this on bad archery trader on Facebook . They will help you get your stuff back.

Terry I am sorry to hear about your misfortune and I appreciate you giving the rest of us a heads up on this guy.

From: LBshooter
Date: 22-Nov-15

Unfortunate that these scumbags exist. Sad thing is, if he would of come out here and said he was unable to purchase equipment due to circumstances he probably would have had the community jump all in and donate some to him, some people just don't get it. As stated karma is a Bitch.

From: Stykman

With Sig9 on this one Rcat. As he said, lighten up. He wasn't crying-just alerting the rest of us to a scammer. And I don't think there were any satanic powers at work here. That guy gets blamed for everything.

From: Fred Arnold

Hey, I trust everybody!!! LOL. Good business practices didn't warrant what you did. I always thrive to be a good person but have been forced to set some limits on my behaviour. Thank you for the warning and reminder.

Thanks for the heads up. Hope it works out. Very clear to me that you were not looking for sympathy. Others should read posts more carefully. And not scold other grown men.

From: John Ryan

Terry is my friend and one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He would give you the shirt off his back if you asked for it. He tried to help a guy out and got cheated in the process. Now he is coming here to warn others, nothing more. I guarantee he is no fool either. A good businessman with a kind heart.

He deserves better treatment than he has gotten here.

From: Aimsmall15

I agree as well. I would have done the same as Terry did. Mist all trad guys I have met have been great people but things like this make me remember. Dorry about your loss terry and thank you for the heads up and like those before me lighten up and if you have nothing nice to say then don't post.

Thanks Terry for the heads up. RymanCat what was that. Guy is just trying to give us a heads up.Give it a break!

From: TrapperKayak
Date: 23-Nov-15

Doesn't it sometime go the other way too? You send somebody your cash, trusting you will get your equipment, and it never shows up. Isn't there some way both parties have assurance they get what they pay for, or get paid for what they send, at the same time, in this internet world? Because I for one, have trust issues with any internet exchanges, therefore I rarely purchase online, even from companies. Just wondering if there is a better way to guarantee fair treatment on both ends, coincidentally.

From: Catsailor
Date: 23-Nov-15

Thanks for the heads up Terry. It's funny how we sometimes chastise the victim instead of the criminal. Trapper, the best way I know how to protect me as the buyer is to use PayPal and selecting the category of goods and services.

From: sir misalots

Terry, sorry to hear that you were scammed. I guarantee you will be rewarded for your kindness in the future. I also guarantee that the scammer will pay for his deed in the future.

I have bought and sold dozens of items on this site with not one bad deal. If a person is considering making a deal and is not comfortable, do a search using the person's "Handle". If they have no posts then be careful, try to get a phone number of the person. If the person has dozens of legit posts, you should have no problems. If there is a person cheating here, post their name/handle for all to see and avoid.

Your right men was hard headed when I wrote that it rubbed some old wounds too in me of things I got ripped for in the past. I wanted to believe they needed help also when I gave gave a guy 1,500.00 I went to Church with and said no strings whatever the Lord brings. Wouldn't you know an elder asked me to go over to this guys house with him after Church that Sunday. I didn't tell the elder I gave this guy anything. When I walked in the house with elder if the elder wasn't standing there I would have had him by the neck. Why there was a new tv and sterio set up with the box there they were setting it up. I guess they didn't know I was coming with elder? I looked at him and he looked like bow peep black sheep. Oh was I angry. We did buisness and left the elder asked me whats wrong with me? You really want to know? Then I told him and he said that's what you and I were there for today was it not and now you got shanghighed too is it. he was crying to all of us at Church and some helped him individually like me and my wife and the Church helped him. I said that's my lovely wifes fault she was involved in that I didn't want to give him I was smelling rat all along.

We can only trust our instincts. Wolfs in black sheep cloths surround the camp.

Most of us usually at some point get taken advantage of eventually due to our good nature. The thing I hope for this guy Terry that you gave to him it will convict him and teach him by this we don't know.

From: Bob W.
Date: 23-Nov-15

Sorry about that Terry, I buy trade and sell bows to, with little more than a few emails or texts. We tend to trust traditional archers for some reason, I know I do and haven't got burned yet. I guess when I do I will become more sceptical with who I deal with. Until then I will keep on dealing with these wonderful folks.

From: JMartin

John Ryan, you are right about Terry. He is a great guy with a huge heart. Thanks for the heads up Terry.

UP Just wanted to make sure everyone sees this

From: Stikbow
Date: 28-Nov-15

Why not set up a third party program here? buyer send money to an independent party, seller sends item to the same guy. He has no part in judging condition or such, and the merely forwards each item or check appropriately. Would work for little known persons on the site. At the end of 10 days if there was not both items in his possession, the items go back to the original owner. Either party could contact the intermediary to ascertain status Either one the George's would get my vote. The intermediary would col Oct a reship fee and perhaps a small tip

From: Stykman
Date: 28-Nov-15

Then the question arises - Can you trust the intermediary? And how do you select one? What are his/her qualifications? A never ending cycle.

From: David Mitchell Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 28-Nov-15

Trust is always in trades here or on any forum such as this. If you require payment first, then you require the other person to trust you that you will in fact send the merchandise. They are taking a chance. Somebody has to trust somebody. I have always sent the item when the buyer told me he would get a money order in the mail by a certain date--I have never been scammed fortunately. Not sure how we can prevent this sort of thing.

From: Babysaph Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member
Date: 28-Nov-15

You can't except don't deal with people you don't know.

From: bigdog21
Date: 28-Nov-15

Ask on here if anyone has had deals with the person your dealing with as for buying i much Rather use pay pal and pay the 3% at least both party's are covered. If someone ask on here if anyone has had deals with me it would not bother me.

From: Babysaph Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member

I agree with Albacore. If you don't trust me to do that then I'll move on. But I'm not trusting you. Sounds mean but I have never been ripped off. Now this is for guys I don't know.,

Of all the bows I've bought, traded, and sold, I've only been burned once in 2006. It was a bow from an ebay auction from a guy in Mich. I paid, and he wouldn't ship. I filed a complaint with ebay and got his seller/buyer account closed(I wasn't the only one) He had a perfect buyer rating, but anything he sold, he didn't ship. A year later, wouldn't you know, he showed up on ebay with a new account, a new name, and the bow I won but never got from him the year before! I recognized the bow because some animal had chewed the upper limb tip. So when I saw it was up for auction again, I contacted ebay, filed another complaint on ryan, and he gave them some excuse, but in the end, he never shipped the bow I paid for, and they closed his account again. I didn't like the feeling of being taken for $75.00 plus shipping so I called the Police in his town, filed a complaint and never heard another word back. It kept eating at me and since I was going to the Kalamazoo Expo anyway I figured I'd just drop by his house and confront him in person. Well, my good wife talked me out of that idea and pointed out that I really only lost $25..after ebay's "Safe Harbor" ended up reimbursing me $50.00 on my original paypal account. So the last time I called him on the phone, he finally told me the reason he didn't send me the bow was because he had paid $125.00 for the bow and didn't want to take the loss!! However, I believe the circle does come around, and I sure would like to be there when it does, but...Live and learn.
