Shot this buck on Friday October 9th, at 8:15 am, South central Pennsylvania. First time on stand this year. There's a little story but not much, happened quick so I'll just keep this short(ish). It was a beautiful morning although a little warm, saw two small buck before I shot this one.

The shot was a little farther than I ever thought I would have taken. The shot was 26 yards. I practice out to 35 but have always limited myself to 20 yards or less. But for me, one of the biggest factors that I consider when shooting at an animal is body language. I have passed on deer standing 10 yards broadside because they were very jumpy and I didn't want to risk it. However, this guy was very calm and I felt I could make the shot, especially since I have been feeling very confidant with my shooting lately.

Long story short, I took the shot and watched the arrow bury just 2" higher than where I was looking. I knew immediately it was a perfect shot.

Another thing I'm discovering: long, narrow, razor sharp broadheads attached to a heavy arrow work amazing. It went through him like a hot knife through butter and he had no idea what happened. He ran 20 yards and looked back, then continued to walk for 10 more until falling.

He's a respectable 7-point, and 100% healthy body wise, however he was covered in Deer Fibroma which is pretty ugly looking. 26 yard shot, 30 yard recovery. My bow was a homemade ILF riser with BlackMax limbs pulling 48# at my draw. Easton GG 500s with a razor sharp 170 grain Grizzly on the end. Love this setup!

Congrats on a fine deer. We've seen a number of fib'd deer up here in PA the last several years. In fact I was with a relative about a half dozen years ago when he took a buck that looked just like yours - with dingle bobbles and all. It has no affect on the meat, in case anyone's wondering.
