I commissioned Mr. Schuler to make a custom Longbow for me in January, and was Very pleased to find it on my doorstep by mid February (with enough time for me to get used to it before going to Tannehill State Park for the "Pre-Spring Arrow Fling"). It is a 64" Hybrid Longbow that pulls 48# @ 28". The bow was everything I had asked for, and more! It is smooth to draw, is Very easy on the eyes, and releases an arrow with authority!

Upon receiving the bow, it occurred to me that the price that had been agreed upon was NOT in line with the quality of the product that I received, the product received being FAR superior to the price paid... So I sent him a bonus which he promptly returned to me. So... I purchased one of his youth bows, and had it sent to a kid that I saw on Facebook shooting his fathers 45# bow. The kid was loving it, and I couldn't resist, so I sent him one that would fit him (after speaking to his father first).

Fast Forward to August...

I noticed what looked like the wood in the riser pulling away from the glue lines, it looked to me like wood shrinkage (I used to do a lot of cabinet work, and know that wood will shrink, or swell given different humidity levels) and I contacted Gary about it.

Gary asked if I needed/wanted a bow as a backup while he inspected, and determined what was going on with my bow, seeing as hunting season was upon us. To which I said that I had other bows here that I can use, and that it wasn't necessary... but thank you for the offer.

It wasn't 3 days later that a new R/D 50#@28" longbow was on my doorstep with a note to KEEP it as a back-up, and send my bow back to him in the same tube for his inspection... See the letter that arrived with the bow...

So... it turns out that he is making me a NEW bow to my specs... with a wood that is beyond beautiful, and FAR more expensive than I had originally ordered... he has GIVEN me a bow as a back-up, AND he repaired my bow so well that I can hardly see where the repair was done... it also turns out that the timing couldn't have been worse for this to happen, as he was moving at the time... My bow came home yesterday, and shoots better than ever!

To top it off... Bow season doesn't open here for another 2 weeks!!

Customer service is one thing... but this man goes WAY BEYOND!

If anyone is looking for a new longbow, I would not hesitate to recommend WinterHawk Archery!!

After all, if he won't take any more of my money, he can at least take some of my arrows!
