for those of you who are familiar with pronghorn bows, if I had a 27" draw how short can I go with a pronghorn 3pc before feeling a difference in smoothness.
I know I like his 60" bows but I'm wondering about the 56 & 58.

at your draw length, you would be OK with a 58" or 60" 3 piece pronghorn in my experience. I would not go shorter than 58" in the 3 piece.
I draw 28", and purchased a 58" at one time. it was too short. the 60" and 62" are much better for my draw.

Why don't you just ask Herb! He better than anyone can give you the answer. Bob

I've had a 58" PHorn and Herb will agree to any length. Bad decision and the bow was sold at a loss in a year. . I would never have any longbow under 60" again. It's all about stability and accuracy. Id suggest getting the 62" as it will be sweet and you will enjoy it much more with greater accuracy. Plus, don't overbow yourself. Shoot what you would shoot if the temps were zero.

You realize that since these bows are still being made (as far as I know)and that since "smooth" is a mostly subjective thing, no one's opinion but yours and the bowyers matter right?

I am short, 24.5 inch draw. My go- to bow is a 3 piece Pronghorn 62 inch. I just love this bow. As it draws 54 pounds at my draw It is smooth for my liking and the extra mass for the 3 piece riser feels more stable in my hand than my one piece, lighter mass weight bows. Find some longbows to compare prior to making your decision, and I agree there is a too short for a longbow breaking point. Herb makes a very nice bow
