Congrats Glenn ! Brandon sure knows his stuff, and the gloss finish definitely brings out the grain of that Heritage. I did the gloss on mine too, and like it so much I've considered another one in his non-gloss finish ! I've never been a huge fan of red glass, but the deer don't care, and that bow ties it all together nicely.
I too am not sure what to think about the red glass but it is in the color spectrum there and if nothing else?...certainly scores huge points in the uniqueness catagory and I am a big fan there!
One things for sure...it shouldn't be hard to find if it ever gets stolen or misplaced. LOL
I wish you many years of happy shooting with it..sweet bow!
Will, the one piece bow closest to the Heritage TD is his Ultra Delight model. He also now makes the 50's styled Ace one piece (not on his site yet) - I'm sure he'd build either for you in a similar style !
I knew you were going to flip on this Richie is it awsome or what as we all know pictures don't do these justice. I wanted red glass and Brandon took care of the rest matching things up. I really like Scotts Zebra one also like a supreme model. Theres more than pride in Brandons work he is a incredable craftsman. I'd like to see drops bow up close to.
Now that is what nature intended! I'm not sure I would shoot it, I think I would sit and look at it for a while, beautiful workmanship, you should be proud of owning that one...........Ron
Wow. This is the third time I have opened this thread. Ryman that is perhaps the best looking recurve I have ever seen. I would like to hear your opinion of how it shoots. Great combination of woods on all of the above. Top shelf eye candy all the way. I am not sure I could take a bow like that to the woods. Kinda like taking a mint 55 Chevy to the mall parking lot.
Bringing Ryman Cat's thread back up - as some may know, Brandon's getting out of the full time bowyer business.
It's too late to get in before he builds a few bows for "in stock" listings when he has time, but for those lucky enough to get in before the cut-off date - congratulations.
Like this Heritage TD, still hanging after being sprayed, before it's sent out to the lucky owner. {8^)
Yes Ryman, it does for the people who appreciate what Brandon does. BUT, Brandon has a family that he needs to support, and I sure can't blame him for doing what he feels is best for them.
It's a data point on pricing. Even the high prices today are not cutting it. The first custom bows I saw advertised were probably the Bighorns. something like 195 as I recall, around 1980. That is about 600 in today's money. But a lot of today's bows are more expensive than a Bighorn of that period to build. By the time their take downs came out thy were probably closer to 250 or 275. Which is 850, and the fancy woods and stuff were not part of the package.
Brandon makes a beautiful bow, that's for sure. Personally, I'm glad I no longer have the option of an impulse "Ace" order. Or wait, dang it I waited too long...lol.
I'm glad to know Brandon's skills will still show up in the occasional bow he decides to build. I consider him to be one of the top custom bow craftsmen anywhere...period. I have one bow from him and sincerely wish I could buy another model.
I was fortunate enough to luck into a set of his 51#@31"/45#@28" #2 Bear TD Limbs that are butter smooth and dead quiet on my '84 Green Stripe TD riser...and they are D@mn Fast too! :)
I think I have said maybe a time or 2 I didn't have any best or favorite bows over another but as I think about it the last RO red glass bow with 2 sets of limbs Brandon made me is really my favorite.
For whatever reason your stopping building I sure hope its not forever though and wise you blessings in whatever you do. Your talents are sure blessed in you Brandon and for you to just quit building we all are going to lose out your bows are the top of the crop they sure are I've had enough of them to be able to say this.
I feel honered and blessed to have been able to have them too.
