Got another bow off the auction place. Was going to leave this one as is. Lasted all of 2 hours and I was sanding the scratches out. Ha!

One question. The finish where the label is has a gouge. I'm thinking carefully clean out the bubbles then fill with Tru oil before sanding back down. Afraid if I try to sand this out I'll hit the Nomad. Anyone ever try filling a hole first?

Also, does this look like the original rug and plate?

Shot it for a half hour or so. Very nice shooter. 43# 54 inch from 67. Love browning bows.

Can't give you any help regarding the finish other than I do know that Browning used an epoxy style finish. If it were me I'd leave well enough alone IMHO. Also, yes, I believe that you do have an original rest and strike plate. Here's the one on my Fury II that I just got back from hunting with this morning. Pretty sure it's original rug and plate.

It may or may not be the original rest and plate. Remember that Browning and lots of other people sold replacements just like that.

I wouldn't use Tru-Oil to fill a gouge. Can't tell for sure how deep it is, but I'd be more inclined to use epoxy or super glue to fill it.

I've used super glue to fill gouges and then sanded flush and topped off with poly or tru-oil. Worked pretty well.
