I want the recurve in the middle. ;>)

I picked up an arrow saw, 1300 5" feathers of varying color, a cresting machine, high end spine tester, 2 Jojan Multi-Fletcher's and a boatload of various tabs, stringers, a couple pounds silencer fur, and a very nice obsidian knife for less than $150.

If they knew what it was...high priced - if not it was low priced.

I hear from little birds that talk to me that "someone " offered $7,000 for 50 bows. Ha ha ha! They must have been smoking something before they went to the sale!

Wonder what the average draw weight is on these bad boys.

Looking at the pictures of everything, I see several things I wouldn't mind having.

And that's without even trying to figure out what any of the bows are.

as the joke goes, when I die I'm afraid my wife will sell them for what I told her I paid for them!

That guy liked his toys. Like they say; whoever dies with the most toys wins, looks like a winner to me.

Actually, it's whoever dies with the most toys, is still dead. LOL. I think Eric's version is that of the rich man, not the average man.

Stopped in this morning. Chuck is alive and well but downsizing a really big collection. Thanks Chuck for some hard to find Adcocks (lots there), but I think you are still going to need a really big Truck. Tom Cunningham.

Stopped by this morning. Picked up an Elburg Jaguar, 66", 55#@29". I think Harry made this bow for me. I shot a few arrows (no nock locater on string, unknown spine on arrow.) Pretty muck pokes 'em where I point 'em. I'm likin' this forward handle longbow thing. I was pleased to find out the seller is simply downsizing. I hope Chuck reads this thread and accepts my thanks. From some of the artifacts, I gather Chuck is a mustanger. As a former sailor, he has my respect. Rick H

I stopped back in the second day of the sale and layed down another $25 or so, on some nice stringers and stray packs of fletchings.

Sunday the bows were 50% off. A couple friends picked up some really nice ones for a reasonable amount.

I figure I got better than $3000 worth of stuff for under $200, not a bad day.

The 4 bags of white barred feathers above on the left are bags of 112 each from 3 Rivers. I can't find them listed on their site any more but the same feathers from Tru-Flight are $112 each so that's $448 for just those 4 bags.

These I think are particularly nice. They are flat on one side with a rubber pad. I got a couple of them.

It's not a gold mine. Sorry to tell you.

Ya know, that's kind of the situation. You look at a rack of bows like that and your mouth starts waterin'. But, the only way to get it for a good price is to buy it all...and that means making the deal first-not getting the absolute lowest price. Then you've gotta find a home for all that you don't want-and you're guessing about which ones will sell for how much! You can't be certain of keeping any specific bows if you want to come out ahead. So you work for a few years and sell it off and you do maybe get to keep the one bow you really want and a couple hundred $ extra and then you read/meet one of the dipXXXX who DIDN'T lay out the money a couple of years later, and he and the other hangers-on are still blabbing about how you "stole the collection", how you're a "bandit", they "should" have bought it,etc, etc. I've been there...a number of times...but I still look at that rack of bows, and my mouth still starts waterin'. Baby's right: it's not a gold mine. He may not have meant this, but-to me-it's just a source of campfire conversation for the guys who were more willing to talk about it than to go after it. He may not have said it this way, but I say get your wallet out or stay in the bleachers. Jaz was smart-he got the accessories that would have reduced the total outlay. Without those, the rest will actually have LESS value! Parting out a collection like that will really hurt the seller.

Tom, I initially got the same impression, but decided to not take away any offense.

I was very happy to get some great deals on some equipment that was very well taken care of and never claimed it was a "Gold Mine". I have given much of it away already and take pleasure in spreading the fake gold :-)

Since I primarily collect and shoot historic/vintage San Diego bows, I had little interest in the bow collection. While everyone else stampeded to get first look at the collection, I rushed to the most important room in the house.... the garage....where all the OTHER good stuff is kept.

And while Jack Chambers feels the need to be a downer....maybe I didn't get a gold mine....but I pulled a few gems from the shaft ;-)

Thanks Tom

"maybe I didn't get a gold mine....but I pulled a few gems from the shaft"

I like that. I really---Really---REALLY---like that

It's all good....even better when remember to thank the man, a member of our trad community, who put the collection together and then let us in his home for the chance to see it. Thanks again Chuck.
