I am new to archery, other than shooting a fiberglass bow as a kid. Now that I'm retired I am getting into it and shoot each morning. I purchased a Howatt Ventura which I am enjoying. I wonder if anyone can tell me the approximate year of my bow. The serial number is HVX 3200-66.

Early 1960's can you post a picture of the riser?

I would guess 1963, just from the decal.

I have a Catalina and Hunter with the same knife edge window characteristics. Beautiful Ventura!

Just getting into archery, and you're getting into it in style. Those Venturas are darn fine bows.

You may already know this, (but you also indicate that you are a new-ish shooter)... That old bow must have a Dacron string -- B50. Strings of modern, low or non- stretch strings can result in catastrophic failure of great old bows. Dacron strings are easy to find, order from any number of great string-makers (many here on LW), or learn to make them yourself!
Congrats on a great bow (I just picked-up a later version -- a Damon Howett Ventura)! Have fun!

Thank you, yes I am using a dacron string. I appreciate the information and replies. Seems like a lot of good people on this site. I have become a big fan of Howatt bows and will be looking for them. My neighbor has a Howatt Hunter that is beautiful, as are all Howatts that I have seen.
