Folks down here in Texas we are getting quite a few selfbow , nappers, primitive folks getting back to the basics so to speak. Sooo I decided to get them together . I have had interest from people for a while for such an event. Well . The third weekend of October we are having one at my place in Spicewood Tx. This will hopefully be the fist of many to come. We will have a fun shoot with about 20-25 3d targets .also maybe a jack pot shoot. Bow building , napping, carving, knife making, string making and I am not sure what else. This is probably the birthing site as my place can only accommodate about 75-100 . There will be room for primittive camping. There will be a tp there . Atltlatal folks will be there. Knugle dragging party. Pm me or call 512-656-6493. Arvin

Food will be provided by my church at a modest price. They are raising money for the benovalance fund at church. The dates are 16-18. Some may show up earlier but you may get put to work helping set up a bit. Lol Arvin Address 2819 PaceBend rd. S. Spicewood tx 78669.

Crap Arvin, that is blackpowder week and the heat of bowseason up here. You trying to make sure Shiloh stays away? :)

From: Towbotr

I will be in the Corpus Christi area around then, is that anywhere near your place ? I will check the gps and get directions.

Graysquirrl I know it's during hunting season. It's hundred here nearly everyday . You want to sleep at night when it is 80-83 degrees. I hear this every year I plan something then. There're is so many events that have been planed for so many years that you step on someone else's toes. This is why I do it in late October. it is usualy to hot to hunt down in this part of the world anyway. I always find plenty of people to show. This is hopefully just the birth of what is to come. I will have talks around camp fires at night to get a plan to better suit everyone we can. So if you want to be a part of the future come and be a start of what may be to come.there will also be some guitar picking at camp fires. Arvin

Arvin, I think its a grand idea. I hope it grows in a hurry. You gotta start somewhere and pick a date and go.............but January would be nice, then we could all snuggle around the fire :)

From: Arvin

Texas is so stinking big it takes for ever to to get anywhere if you live south of Dallas. That's why I am putting this together . I need that realy good knapper from Midland -Odessa area. So if you folks up at Pappys know him . Let him know about this. Thanks Arvin

I am trying to think who you are talking about Arvin we have several nappers from Texas at the Classic, if I can remember I will let him know, in the mean time if you are on PA now go to the nappers forum and post it there and also in the events section, just scroll down from the bow section and you will see the other forums.Does this guy look like who you are talking about ? Pappy

From: Pappy 1

Or this guy ? They are both from Texas. Pappy

From: Arvin
Date: 25-Aug-15

This is funny . If you are talking about the guy in the cowboy hat maybe. He's probably from Georgia . Lol if it is the guy in the green shirt in the bottom pic i don't think so. Blue shirt maybe . It has been some time and I am old. But I will do as you instructed. Cause you are proven in the event planing department. Thanks Arvin.

From: Arvin
Date: 25-Aug-15

Make it easy tell both of them. I need all the help I can get in that department. Rock mason for years and can't make one little arrow head from rock. Took a while to build a bow also. I think I have some of that pedernales flint at my place. I live across the street from the river. Need someone that knows it when they see it and help cook it. Arvin

I intend to be there. I'm gonna' bring a bow or 2 hopefully. I'm down to only 1 wooden bow. I've let folks talk me out of all the others.

From: Arvin
Date: 29-Aug-15

For Better watch bringing those bows here . You may get someone here to take them off your hands. I am behind on building bows right now. One of those ugly words work. Come on I think this is going to be a blast. Quite a few have been here before and we have a great time. Rick we need your string making skills passed on if you are not making them anymore. Arvin

From: fdp
Date: 29-Aug-15

Yes rick. We need your strings and tabs. Man I like those tabs.

I would love to be there guys, but it's not likely I'll be able to.

I want to think those that came and helped. It could never have happened without Larry Harris on target repair, LM Butler on the ice run, our church providing the food and numerous others. Kenny Cartright thanks for assisting in the bow builds also for the fantastic carving you did on my africa bow case. Tower for your Knapping ability and your demonstrations at the Knapping pit. Abo thank you also for my Knapping lesson. We had 5 bows built about 40 people attend and a large time. We raised about $1600 dollars for our church benevolence fund . All in all a great time thanks to everyone . I will get a pic of Kennys carving soon. Arvin
