I can't believe the summer is already into the dog days and I have yet to post a summer rove.

It has been a busy summer with lots of work in too much heat. Up until a recent family trip to Washington I had not missed a roveday...

Here's a pic of Amy in May on her last rove before giving birth to a healthy baby boy: Roak Thieryn (7/16/15)...

This is how the summer started for us in the Hinterlands....

...and, unfortunately, this is how the summer is now... she is burning pretty good out our way... more on that later.

I, like everyone else, loves your Hinterland Rove posts, but a favor, if you could: Could you tell us the bows everyone is shooting? Thanks, God and Christ Bless

So, after a couple of weeks in Washington, we came home to the forest burning. As of now there are about 120,000 acres burning in the vicinity with a lot of that in areas we actively rove. Fall is going to bring a very different landscape for our roving grounds. I'll get some pics up when I can. We roved in the smoke last weekend, but I'm not ready to post those pics yet.

Cheers, I hope everyone is having a good summer.

Enjoy your wonderful photos and commentary. Have missed stowing away on your adventures. Hope rain soon revitalizes the hinterlands. New life should allow unique roving and photo opportunities. Thanks for sharing

Fantastic introduction to another part of the hinterlands that we all may rove some day...nothing better than family, good friends, and longbows Roving the wilds of this great Country. Thanks for the pictorial!

As always, a great rove. Thanks for sharing and taking us along, as it's the only way I will ever see that country and go on such a rove! Congrats to the new parents! Been following the fires all summer on the news. Such out of control power and destruction. Hope mother nature shows some compassion soon.

Congrats on the new addition to the family!

And by the way, I wanted to ask---are the Hinterland Roves a "longbow only" party? Just curious

Beautiful country and great photos. Thank you for sharing with us. Congratulation on the new family member, I'm sure there must be a bow waiting in the wings... Lance.

Many thanks for posting these great photos, but very sorry to hear about the forest fire in your area. We had over 100,000 acres burn here in Northern Colorado 3 years ago and it is heartbreaking to see the damage. Unlike your neck of the woods, our forests are dry and it takes quite a few decades for trees to grow, so flashfloods are a problem for years afterwards.

I've lived most of my 67 years at 200 feet above sea level.

I remember a few years ago my wife and I did a hike at Yosemite. We walked 10 feet and paused to catch our breath.

Kudos to those who can hike at 5000+ feet.

Great photos and thanks once again, HR, for taking me along on your roves.

Also, a hearty congratulations for your good news.
