I won this bow in the benefit auction for Jim Fetrow. I have been wanting to try one for a long time and hopefully learn to build some. I was a little skeptical about the killing power these sticks would have but I have to say I am no longer a skeptic. Wow what a bow. It's 69 inches and draws 47 @28 and it flat zings a heavy woodie. Arvin is one heck of a craftsman. Here it is hanging on an arrow I had just shot from 20 yds.

Nice looking bow ! Maybe I will get to try one one day. Did you kill any of those deer in the pics with a longbow or recurve? Nice deer also!

Very nice bow and deer! It's all good! DJ

Maybe you could solve the orientation issue by tilting the phone 90 degree counterclockwise when you take the photo???

From: Jim Davis
Date: 28-Jul-15

On further thought, it seems the phone should be rotated 90 degrees CLOCKWISE.

DJ no unfortunately no stickbow mounts as of yet, there all compound bow and a few gun kills. I did miss a pope and young 10 pt my first year of trad hunting at 8 yds if that counts. He didn't make it to the wall but I will never forget that hunt. Jim, yea Ive thought about doing that but just was wondering if there was a way to do it otherwise.

Arvins makes some amazing bows! Great looking bow and for a great cause!

No offense friend, but I find it amusing when folks question the power of a weapon that has taken more game than glass bows x50. I'm glad you now see what they can and will gladly do you for you. Enjoy your new bow, and please spread the word!

No offense pearl it just amazes me they can shoot this hard. I knew they could do the job I just was worried I was going to lose my 20 yd effective range. I don't think that's going to happen plus man there quiet.

Glad you are enjoying the bow BR. I told ya it would be a shooter. Arvin

Sweet stick. Good job arvin

The majority of people don't realize that a properly built selfbow will shoot just as fast per pound of draw weight as a glass laminated longbow of the same design.

In fact, if you can reproduce the same profile in wood as you can glass laminated, the performance would be nearly identical.

Correct FDP. I agree . The trick is duplicating it. Knots play a big role in making this more difficult .

For anyone with doubts, just look at Arvin's Africa pics! Any questions????

Thanks guys for all the compliments. I've been working on getting some broadheads tuned up and I've got a pretty good setup. Using a surewood 55/60 at 28 inches long and a grizzly the bevel at 145 grain. Here is what it hits like. First shot is at 18 yds.

Seriously guys if you have ever considered the selfbow just do it. These things are awesome weapons and I'm having a ball. I honestly think I'm hitting better than I do with my curves. I'm in amazement at how well this bow can shoot. I fully intend to show you guys some selfbow kills this season. Arvin thank you so much for such a fine bow. If yall havnt guessed I am completely addicted.

Arvin's Selfbows are awesome, they will remove any doubt about performance and power to those that may be concerned. I have a few of his bows that are my treasures in the stable.
