I just bought a new Kodiak Magnum and it came with a d97 string which seems ok but is a little loud although I quieted it down some with silencers and raising the brace height. my question is what would be a better option as far as strings? I have b50 material (I know it stretches) or do the skinny strings work better? I also have some of the fast flight material from the 90s I could use. what do you all think?

The only way you are going to know for sure is to experiment, no two bows are exactly the same or react the same. Bob

I have a string that is made of Rhino material, and it's one of the best I've used. It's 10 strand with about 16 or so in the loops. It's quiet and brings out the best performance that is in the bow...waiting to get out 8^).

The skinny strings do on all my classics I had made with whiskers. Padded loops are key.

I use D97 on a few of my non-ff bows with Dacron padded loops. D97 seems a little softer than some of the newer ff materials. It's made quite a difference in noise and vibration reduction.

I found D97 noisy as well on my Bear TD. Now use strong made with 8125. Less noise, fewer silencers.

We've been seeing really good results with 8125G and X but it does depend on the bow as mentioned.

I would try that original Fast Flight you have. I cherish my remaining supply. - lbg

Finally made a string out of the old fast flight I have. The bows faster, quieter and seems easier to draw as well
