As much as I love being able to seem very knowledgeable by using this site I think it needs to be shared with a new crop of historians/collectors just as someone shared it with me in the past. If you have a question about old bows and archery pioneers go to Archeryhistory.com first. Truly an amazing resource.

I had forgotten about that site. It's been around like 10 years or more? Glad to see it's there, lots of great info.

I forget about it sometimes to...the thing is a lot of the information comes from pictures of the actual advertising or the bow in question...with so much myth and opinion in the archery history world it is nice to have first hand knowledge...just because Bear advertised it does not necessarily mean it happened all the time, but it surely does increase the odds that it did...that is why I firmly believe my 1962 Kodiak Magnum was made with 3M Scothply glass, a glass Larry Hatfield calls the best he ever worked with...I actually visited that site today when I wanted to know when Damon Howatt died and there is a copy of a news story about his death...I am sure I could find that story by other means if I was willing to spend the time...the authors of that site already did it for me

There will be nothing to talk about on the Wall. :-)

It's a good site, but the recurve side is poorly organized and lacking in detail.

Really enjoy the site.

I also remember advertising of the K Mags and others I would like to see. Don't think the Wilson Brothers advertised as I don't recall seeing any in Archery Magazine by the NFAA I used to get in first of the sixties. Read them cover to cover over and over. I did see a lot of the painted Black Widow risers at events though before they made the heavy target risers later in '63 and now wonder where they went as I never see any up for auction. Wing used to advertise a whole line of bows around '60 to '61 when I first read the magazine, Saw my first copy as an Explorer Scout on a table brought by one of the leaders and then wanted a recurve bow. Wing had a page one time with a whole bunch of bows with super fancy risers. Their adds were almost confusing as it was similar to now and trying to decide on which flavor of potato chips to buy. Never see any of these Wings for sale of that time either, just the era of the heavy target risers of 1963 forward like their Citation etc. Most of the adds in the site above are from that era. Once Hoyt put stabilizer balls on their top of the line target bow in '62, the whole world changed for a while with heavy wood risered target bows.

Great post Camodave!

Wilson Brothers did indeed advertised in magazines but likely was in either Archery World or Bow and Arrow Magazine. I'll see if I can find one for you. I know they advertised their strap tab release several times.
