What do you want to know It's a very well made, time tested design. The bows shoot and handle very well. Now the question is, are you a straight end longbow guy? that will be one of the determining factors. Some folks like them some don't.

Doublelung, I just received mine by mail yesterday.I will try to get some pics up soon. My first impressions with the way it shoots are very positive. The first shooting I shot a variety of spine and weight arrows and it shot all very well. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate finish on the bow a 7 or maybe an 8. Also several small but visible bubbles under the glass. Not something I would let go out the door if I were in the business of making and selling bows. Communication with/from the bowyer was almost lax but acceptable(barely). I had intended on ordering a recurve from same bowyer as soon as this bow arrived but I have decided to spend money elsewhere on my next bow. I'm a longbow man anyway but I wanted one of those bows that the bowyer's father had designed.
I am also shoot a HH Redman and that bow too has small bubbles under the glass.
I'll say this, I have made at least two dozen glass lam bows myself and I got past the bubble problem after the first half- dozen.
Don't take this as bashing. i am just giving an honest opinion. Both bows mentioned are moderately priced so I guess this is what one gets.
Lat me repeat: I do like how the shoots. I plan on shooting the heck out of it and I am fixin to put a Rick Barbee string on it.

I have had two from Jay and two of the Redman from Howard Hill Archery. All fine longbows, and very similar in performance. The St. Charles limb is a wider and flatter. Jay has small hands and Howard had huge hands so Jay makes smaller, rounder grips. Howard made deep and narrow grips. I shoot both about equally well.
The HHA bows are always well finished with a spray finish, satin or glossy as you choose. Jay's are hand rubbed TruOil, with fine horn overlays and nice leatherwork. I never noticed bubbles in any of mine.
Two great American straight limb longbows, light and lively in the hand. - lbg

I picked up a used St. Chas. Classic a couple of months ago 70" 43# at my draw. Bow is twelve years old, hardly ever shot. No complaints about the finish. Very smooth to shoot ( hard to beat Yew for a smooth shooting bow) and as dead in the hand as any bow I've shot. Grip allows for a very natural feel when drawing. Very quick for the light weight and 450+ grn. arrows. I'm going to order one in a couple of months, 66" and 53#. Reputation of both bows is as solid as you can get

I've had two of his Laminated Yew T/d's and both where decent American Longbows, very beautiful looking bows the Yew Wood Jay uses is Priceless!
my bows because they where takedowns had the oval round grips, there is no other option for T/D I think but the grips where large and felt good in the hand.
If I remember right they had decent speeds and the shock if you want to call it that was no different than my 20 other hill style bows, I'm pretty sure back then all my hill bows had B50's,,, currently all my bows including selfbows have FF with padded loops.
I still own a St Charles Gen 3 ALL Yew recurve #31 of the first 300 and every time I break that bow out and look at it I'm reminded how great a bowyer Jay really is and I would not hesitate to order another bow from Jay if his was the style I was looking for.
