I was that which others did not want to be.
I went where others feared to go, and did what others failed to do.
I asked nothing from those who gave nothing and reluctantly accepted the thought of eternal loneliness ... should I fail.
I have seen the face of terror; felt the stinging cold of fear; enjoyed the sweet taste of a moment's love.
I have cried, pained and hoped ... but, most of all, I have lived the times others would say were best forgotten.
At least someday, I will be able to say that I am proud of what I was ...
a soldier.

When I was in, I had a poem hanging on my wall.
ever since I was a little boy, I wanted to be a soldier. Being a soldier is my whole life. I love being a soldier. I'm proud to be a soldier. There isn't anything in the whole world I'd rather be than a soldier, except a civilian.

Yes, we owe a great debt and gratitude to those brave souls that fought and died so we could be free. To those that are still alive and have served or are now I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Without all of you I doubt I would be free to type this on my computer...or even own a computer. God bless you all.

Just spent the weekend with my father in-law a die hard Marine(Vietnam)tank commander. 89 and dying of stage 4 prostate cancer. He decorates his yard every year with the flags of all the branches of the Military and the American flag. Then calls out all the names of every one he knows he served with and any friends or family that he knows who served and rings the bell. A speech and a pray said before and after. Never done it before and I found it very moving and a teary eyed event.
I'm privilege to know such a man.
