Serial number HW 64661-L 54" Howatt Hi Speed Ne Plus Ultra . Black glass on back and Brown on the belly. Would like to know what year it was made. I can date most of the later Howatt bows by the first number for the decade . I think I read one time that the numbers on these earlier ones may refer to the builder instead. Antone know who built it?

the bowyer was #6. that bow is likely from 1954 or so. i do not know who the bowyer was back then with that number. maybe jim hook. pearl chilcutt, who kept the books on the bows back then had several methods she used. the number could mean april of 1956. no records kept of dating back then.
