Project was doomed from the beginning. Stack was way too much for a 48" bow. .25. Came out to be around 100#. Tried getting it down as much as i could but never the less it failed. Any help with the stack would be much appreciated.

It appears the shape of the riser at the fade out is too severe on the back side of the bow. (The side toward the target)

Could be Nemah. This was my first go with this design. So you think lessen the angle by re shaping the riser? This would be the easiest way to fix that angle.

What nemah said more gradual fadeouts. Possibly to extreme. The fades should barely bend when strung and at full draw, even slow transition. Jeff F

looks like it hinged badly at the riser. you can take the pressure off that area by using tapered lams.

little bit of everything people are saying here. Fade outs are way to aggressive for a short recurve and the riser is too long. Not sure what your stack is. But I use 003/1 tapers in a 48"TD I build. Has a 2ppi FDC from 26-30". But its a totally different animal. Would like to have seen this bow before she hinged on you.
Here is a couple 54's I'm working on. Top is an unfinished riser of my dads that I repaired and laid up in his original form. Bottom one is it's evil twin (foam and carbon!) But you can see not much riser to these recurves and your going 6" shorter! Take a look at the fade outs also.
My Dad built 3 48" 1pc bows, only one made it out of the shop and I have access to it. But they were built along the lines of the 54's. Then he went to the take down version. Made a much better bow.
Hope this is of some help and good luck on your journey, Old

Thanks for the advice everyone. I see the hinge yall are talking about. Think I'll re design the riser and try again. Never say die right? This has been trial and mostly error lol.

tripv - I am curious, how long was your riser overall - end of fadeout to end of fadeout?

Longer limbs and a smoother transition on the fade outs .I have done that myself too. I learned from my mistakes.Hey nothing ventured nothing gained. You get back on the horse again OK. Good luck with the next one. OSR
