Coming up May 23-24th. In Ft. Worth. Anyone going? Hope it doesn't get rained out.

From: Dkincaid
Date: 12-May-15

I live about 15 mins from it and never go. I have thought about it but from what I understand they fill up and there is a waiting list? I don't know this for sure so if anyone can give some information I'd appreciate it.

it has been many years since it has filled up, you can register on day of shoot. It is a highly competitive shoot well worth going to. Not sure if I can make it this year or not.

The Nocking Point will be there Terry

Landshark...I'll be there...being as I'm riding with you.

On a side note, any of you regulars at this shoot, please weigh in on my "Center shot vs Center cut" thread.

Also don't forget the recurve championship on 06-06 and 06-07 just down the road at cowtown range.

Carry your floating arrows and also your industrial strength ones. I remember the bear on the bluff overlooking the river and metal cutout kill zone. Great shoot..highly competitive if that's your bag. Sack

Need to put this on the calendar for future.

I guess you never knew what you don't know. I have lived just outside of Ft Worth most of my life, (except for the 4 yrs of College). Can anyone give me the location of the shoot? Not that I think I can match skill yet, but may want to go spectate.

Done this shoot for years. Yes it is competitive and I have only buckeld twice. But I keep coming cause it's a great shoot. Went for probably 6 years before I got a buckle but that is not what keeps me coming. If you haven't been then try it. There is the bow box though. Maybe someone else can describe the rule on the bow fitting the box. All long bows will not fit!! Just a rule though. I support this shoot every year and plan on doing it for many years. Arvin

Where is it held at now?...went there twice about 10 years ago...Sherwood something or other.

I'm 5 hrs away and would like to make it.

From: Bentstick54

Made it in 2012 and loved it. Family commitments would not allow me the next 2 years, but will be there this year again.

The location is on Mary's Creek just west of Ft. Worth a couple of miles on Hwy 80. It is on the South side of the road and pretty well marked with a flag.

Traditions Leathercraft from Blanchard, OK will be there. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Love this shoot! My favorite course year in and year out! Really hope schedule allows for me to make it!

From: Arvin

We have to have you Shiloh ! See ya there brother.

From: RJH1

I wish they had a more modern longbow division. I wanted to go but I am not sure if my bows are legal and I shoot carbon arrows. I get the idea of keeping it more traditional but I am too hard on my arrows to shoot woods.

From: MedicineMan
Date: 19-May-15

Thanks Arvin, sure hope I can be there! Haven't shot any since vanderpool. Between wedding plans, getting new house fixed up, trying to move into house between rain storms, and all of life's other daily duties, my schedule has been pretty much booked solid! Really hope to see everyone there.

Nice place. It's well organized and great people! One tip. Halfway thru the shoot you will be given free coke or water . Drink water and avoid coke. You'll have massive sugar spike and corresponding letdown. Couldn't hit the side of the barn on the Final stretch. Happened several years . Again its a great place!

Bones: Go. Shoot. If you finish dead last you will make the day of the next worst archer. Part of the dues we all pay to the sport. I remember the first shoot I went to. The memory hardly hurts at all after all these years. I bet you will have a great time shooting. - lbg

From: Brazos

This really is a great time. For all you people who are close you need to at least stop by and check it out. Get there at 8:am and watch everyone warming up. There are vendors there selling trad stuff you need. Better yet sign up and shoot. Don't worry about your score. Wonderful group of people. You will have fun. It is a buetiful place and the event is well organized.

One more thing. Just go right up the street towards Fort Worth and eat at Marggie's resteraunt. It is also awesome.

Any chance of getting rained out this weekend? I hate to make the 3 hour drive if it is going to be cancelled because of too much rain!

I sure hope we get a break in the weather and get the shoot in. I've heard great things about how much fun this shoot is and how everyone had a great time here.

Lighting has shut it down before temporary. But I am driving 4 1/2 hours to get hit by lighting if it hits a Osage bow. Lol Arvin its a must for me.

With the rain coming in both in Ft Worth and here at home, Traditions Leathercraft is not going to be able to go this year.

I hate it that I wont be able to see everyone and shoot. For those that make it I hope you don't get too wet and that you have a great time!

From: Dkincaid
Date: 22-May-15

Arvin drove 4.5 hours to shoot in the great Texas blizzard this year nothings gonna stop him.

The weather looks bad, especially on Sunday, but I'll be there Saturday morning, God willing. Great shoot. Very well run by good people. Wooden arrows only. Very well attended but has not sold out the last few years because of gasoline cost. Just fewer long distance attendees.Good to see that Terry and Sheila will be there with the "Nocking Point" trailer. You 3 under shooters will be glad to hear that 3 under is now allowed. See you in FT. Worth.

The Texas State Longbow Shoot has modified the shoot to 30 targets. And Saturday only due to the rain. I did not shoot but went to pick up a few things. Really only one vender there Nocking Point. And two people sell bows. A small crowd compared to the last time I shot but that was twenty two years ago!

Thanks to the guys that put the shoot on. I had a great time as always. Seemed like a pretty good turn out considering the weather forecast and thankfully during the shoot it was cool and dry.

As always, it was an outstanding shoot, even with the abbreviated format. Thanks to David Sykes and all the club members who do the work to make this happen every year.

I'll shoot better next year?
