FWC has finally come to their senses. In a stunning reversal they have placed crossbows back into gun season! Also reviewing a move to offer an early traditional archery(defined as no wheels)season which is likely to get approved! Whoop whoop!

Awesome. I hope that sets a precedent for other states. I hope NY sticks with their gun season only use of crossbows. I saw a bunch of these things at a sportsman show and I don't like them nor the new trend of their use.

Good for you guys. Wish Indiana would do the same.

Awesome. Wish it was like that here in Pa.

And from the state that couldn't figure out the butterfly ballot. Well done!

Good for FL. I too hope it's the beginning of a trend but I don't hold out much hope other states will follow suit. Too much lobbying money involved. I'm not positive but here in NJ the crossbow lobbyists were responsible for footing the cost of printing the game compendium a few years ago. There were quite a few ads for Xbows in that publication. If I'm wrong, I'm open to correction. My memory tends to suffer as the years pass. The only way I'm okay with these contraptions is if the individual is physically incapacitated and can't handle a wheel or trad bow.

fingers crossed for the traditional archery only season

I will probably get death threats for saying this. Why so much objection to crossbows? Wisconsin allows crossbows now and I have not experienced any ill effects where I hunt. One of my hunting buddies started shooting a crossbow last year. Nothing has changed other than what he carries into the woods. If my shoulder gets any worse that's what I'll be hunting with.

Crap! I was so happy to hear that that I went on my state's forum and posted the "good news". Now I have to go back and look like an idiot and correct my post. :o(

Sorry mike, I wasn't thinking.

Crikey, fell for that hook-line-sinker. :/ Still hope NY sticks with no xbows during bow season. No objections to their use then Catsailor, nor by those who can't shoot other bows. Just don't want them used during bow-only seasons. They aren't 'bows'.

Frankly I don't give a dead fig leaf what anyone uses as long as it's within the law. I shoot longbows and on occasion recurves Just don't tell ME what I HAVE to hunt with.

CAT, we're not against x-bows, they just don't belong in archery season as they are more like a gun then a bow !!!

Here we go again.I'm with you if you ban compounds right along with crossbows. If not then live and let live. Everyones personal circumstances are different.I will not be part of judging someone else's needs or wants.Actually I hunted 6 different parcels of land this past season and never saw anyone with a crossbow here in NEW york.
