Sounds like the string is B-50. it's under glass so, you should be able to draw it. Not sure it will be a comfortable drawing bow. if you do draw 29 1/2", you'll pull about 54 pounds, so you will need a 15 strand B-50 string. But, I may predict a hard stack when you get to about 27".

I have that same bow. I draw 29 inch. I have owned it for about 4 years, shot it for the first year , now just get it out from time to time when have people over and they want to try out some different bows . These bows have a lot of hand shock , that is why I quit shooting it. They are made by Martin but they do not make it anymore . It was my first longbow, had several recurves before it, but it also made me like longbows better, now I mainly shoot longbows only with recurves sometimes just to change it up for fun. The papers that came with my bow when I bought it said brace height is to be between 7-8 inch.

Martin guitar company??

Looks like the wrong font... Any idea when it was made??

Seem to remember a Martin ML-10 a friend of mine had 40 years ago. If this bow is anything like that bow it will probably overstress you first!

You might also try a well padded loop F.F. on it, but don't know though if that would help any with shock.

It was made by Ragim in Italy for Martin. Martin still has bows made for them by Ragim.

the funny thing is, i built a lot of electric guitars at the request of terry martin for different bass and lead guitar players from a lot of different genre bands across the country. we didn't call them "martin" guitars, but i guess we could have! terry had a friend that was a great electronics man that put them at the top of the heap for sound etc., and set them up for different players. i built the bodies and did the routing and drilling. just like the bow, all by hand. 1 at a time

That IS funny, Larry!

Just curious, though.... Is there anything in this world that you CAN'T do???

Hector, that bow won't be fast, and it may like heavier arrows or maybe just heavier points, but it will be fun to shoot!

I would try some full-length 500 and 400 carbons, with 125-175g points, and use the ones that hit the bullseye the most. I wound up with a draw like yours, and 52# weight, so my best arrow was a full length .500 carbon with a 175g point, they grouped the tightest and closest to the centerline of the target. Only took 2 sessions to find the best arrow, and all I bought was a couple of dozen points. I already had the .400s from hunting, and the .500s for the target bow. I would leave the string as is, changing it out on a slower bow like a longbow might just be 'lipstick on a pig' in my small opinion. Sounds like a fun bow, let us see how it shoots, OK?

Hector, my armguard is very heavy leather, and my longbow string hits it hard enough to fray the string. I had to serve my strings real low to stop the fraying. The bow shoots great, so I'm not changing my form or anything. Longbows are great!

"Is there anything Larry can't do?" answer: YES - Make an ugly/slow shooting bow;-)

Hector, I don't know why it is, but it seems to me that longbows torque less than recurve bows, and they don't seem to string pluck as bad. Maybe it is the grip, or how thick the limb stack is. I never have figured it out. I just know I can hit stuff a lot farther away with my longbow than I can with a recurve.
