Artificially dyed Ray. If it is real ray the white piece with the dots is real, the tiger stuff isn't.

Oh my! I have to know more. I have been thinking about skins for backing bows but I just never have cared for snake skin. Don't get me wrong. They are beautiful but I just don't want them on my bow but fish patterns, I like. Go figure. Shark and ray leather or skin, I just think would be a great medium to work with and as a handle wrap, wow! Think of all the catfish skin that is being thrown away every day. I bet it is about perfect. The next ray I catch will be saved.

Griping about grips again Cameron? You need to start gripping and quit griping about gripping. And get a grip...errr, gripp, errr grippe. I forgot you speak Canadian. And that is a very "schnazzy" grip, my friend. 8^)

Chief. I have crazy ideas about fish skins also. For example ray tail spine for overlay. Sorry George about my spelling errors the wife was working. The sting ray was hard to mold around the locator.

The edges needs some more thought as this stuff is like cutting thru ballbearings. Great feel i guess thats why they use this stuff on samurai swords.

Well, you didn't spell anything wrong. And I love how your mind works...using that left side. Stay at it Cameron.

I'm curious about the installation of the stingrays grip. That I'd the first one I've seen with the wrap overlapped on the belly side. Is there any particular reason you did it this way?

Looks great btw.

I cut it a little bit larger than the grip i took off. The white part wouldn't bend at the locator. So i fitted it on the back. I started with barge cement just on the back and did it little by little around each side trimming as i went. It is ghin enough to over lap. The size of the piece decided where the over lap went.

Experts all agree that the gripe is the most important part of the bow. Never stop griping!

Oh- Rooty, those grips are fantastic. I once tried to peel a rare sea turtle skin off a $140 designer whisky flask to use on one of my Hills, but it was too stiff from varnish to bend properly.

There! A grip gripe of my own for this great thread.
