Received a 1966 Bear Kodiak from a fellow tradganger the other day. It is in beaughtiful shape has the original coin and no stress lines or holes. It is marked 64@28 and is 60" long. Anyone have info or opinins on this year of the Kodiak?

I think it's golden rosewood and bubinga.

I don't think anyone here would give that bow a less than stellar review.

Bear at it's finest IMO.

What are they worth in that poundage?

I'd say $250ish to 3 bills.

Pics are surely in order! Congrats on your bow! I've been drooling over the 65's and 66's recently myself. Well those and Super Kodiaks in general.

The thread pasted above has a pic from the 1966 Bear catalog of the Kodiak. Pretty cool!

Having shot every Kodiak made over the years, the 66 is a beauty, but I wouldn't buy it if I could get a 65. The reason is not that the bow is any way substandard, but it has a pronounced palm swell that was not there the previous year. Lots of folks love that aspect, but I don't. Just shows how individual the sport can be with the "feel" thing. They are beauties though and coveted by many an archer and bowhunter.

I have a 65 and a 66 in 64#. They are both great shooters.

I have one that is ALL golden Rosewood! Signed by Fred, special made for one of his Bear dealers. Only one I've ever seen that didn't have Bubinga in it. Never really cared for the "palm swell" grip on the '66 models though.

I have the 1966 Kodiak in both 60 and 64 inches. Both are great shooters. Here is the Kodiak page from the 1966 bear catalog.
