Hey, I am new to the forum, but looking for a little advice. Years ago I shot a Shrew Lil Favorite bow at a bow show. I was blown away by it, but couldn't come close to affording a bow like that...

Years later, I have gotten back into shooting traditional bows again, but still can't afford a Shrew (some things don't change). I have been on here (and other sites) looking at reviews and responses to the Samick Stingray and they have all been positive. The Stingray has a forward handle design much like the Shrew I fell in love with, but at a much cheaper price (I understand that the craftmanship won't even compare, but I really don't care about that. I simply want a bow that I could shoot close to the same way I shot the Shrew that day).

My questions are as follows: Would the Stingray (with its similar forward handle design), shoot similar to the Shrew (I have never shot the Stingray)? Why aren't there any NEWER posts about the Stingray on any of the message boards (they all appear to be from 2010-2011)? Did something change? What are your feelings/opinions on the Stingray?

Again, I can't afford the Shrew, so it isn't an option for me... But I would love something that shot in a similar fashion.

Thanks for your opinions.

I love my stingray, & I have several much more exspensive bows but it just shoots to good.

I dont own one, but had the chance to shoot one at Lancaster Archery. It was nice and smooth. I wouldnt even think of saying anything bad about them.Mainly because of the reaction everyone has on here to opinions that are not the same as theirs. Talk about drama.

I have one, shot a ton of arrows through mine with no problems at all, finish is pretty good as well, I wouldn't hesitate buying another. The stingray is a good solid bow n won't break the bank. I'm not spending a lot of money on bows like I have n the past, no reason to.

I got ya... I welcome your thoughts, good or bad.

I am trying to get as many opinions as possible. It's kind of like the whole marriage thing... "Speak now or forever hold your peace"

Speak away!

I have always wanted one, but I have never had the opportunity to shoot one. It is on my "want" list!

I have been looking all over for a USED Stingray. I can't find one (Which I think is a good sign, because people don't normally make a big effort to hold onto junk).

Probably going to break down and get a NEW one. I like the handle and the design, and would love to shoot one.

Still interested in anybody who has an opinion on the topic.

I have owned a 50# Stingray for about 5 years. I draw 27" It is an outstanding bow in ease of shooting and performance. A terrific value for the price. Being a 58" bow it may not be optimal for persons with long draw lengths.

I had one, but couldn't get used to the high wrist grip, and sold it. I thought it was a great bow, however. If you can shoot the high grip, buy one. You won't regret it.

Its a fine bow at a very reasonable price..... hard to find a used one for sale ! Mine shot very well. Hump

The warranty on a new bow is worth a lot should you ever need it! I bought a samick sage a few years back and let a friend use it to try trad archery, well he loved it and I let him have the bow. He took it to a shop to have silencers put on it and they put the bow in a press and they cracked the riser! I called lancaster archery and told them exactly how the riser got cracked and that the warranty had been out for nearly a year. They told me to send them the riser and they replaced it with a new one at no cost and paid the return shipping! I think that was going above and beyond with customer service! Just something to consider. Johnny

That is a good point on the warranty with a new bow. I really have had no luck finding the bow USED, so it looks like NEW was going to be my only option anyway.

The assurance of having someone warranty a new bow does help justify paying a little more for it.

Even NEW, the price is excellent. I just hope that it is not in that "Too good to be true" category (Because it sounds like a GREAT bow for an extremely good price)... But reading everyone's comments really puts my mind at ease. Since I can't shoot the bow first, the next best thing is getting the opinion of those who have.

Tbook31, make sure you get yourself a bow stringer along with the Stingray.
