Just watched a couple videos on BS web site and really liked what I seen. Don't seem to hear or see them that often.

My questions are anyone own one and what do you think of them. Also do they have hand shock (a lot or very little to none). thanks people.

Great write up in the current issue of TBM. Seems like Arvid Danielson doesn't know how to do anything half-way.

I saw the TBM write up, interesting. I would like to hear more about the performance but if Mullaney tested them in 2000 and said the bow had the highest efficiency level he had seen in any bow tested, that says a heck of a lot.

I have one and it's one of the best bows I've ever owned. There are some bows you come across that give you total confidence and that's what this bow does for me. I feel like I can't miss with this bow. It's very fast, dead in the hand, and quiet when tuned correctly. I have an A&H acs cx and a whippenstick phoenix (same specs) and all three of these bows are right in the same ball park speed wise. The swans are very nice bows.

Whatever happened to their fugly wave bow that was gonna set the trad world on fire?

Hey, that's my article! They didn't inform me it was out. It's been a pleasure knowing and shooting with one of the USA's best bowyers and shots. His bows are very unique and very fast.

TD2 his wave bow is still available. Haven't heard of such claims, other than the limb design offers some advantage with heavy arrows.

Incidentally, Arvid has a new carbon that makes his limbs even faster than when the article was written. Adds another 5-10 fps. All the result of a chance meeting on an airplane with a woman who just happened to be the representative of a novel carbon mfg. company...the benefit is that one can shoot a 40 lb bow for hunting and not have to worry one iota about being underbowed. Or arguably, shoot a very light weight bow for competion and hold very steady.

One other thing, Arvid has designed a bow stringer that is so simple and superior to other bow stringers, it's amazing no one had thought of it or manufactured it before. I highly recommend this bow stringer. I guess Arvid will sell it, not sure.

Arvid has some nice stuff! However, I seriously doubt his bow stringer is going to be the equal of what I'll be putting out! Mine will string any bow and do it to 150 pounds! That is a bow stringer to watch for!

I think Arvid's will do that. Maybe a similar design. At any rate, I look forward to yours as well.

I had one of his bows, a Hybrid, it shot a 10gr per pound arrow at 178fps. blistering... not.

Well Mullaney's test showed they were the most efficient of ANY recurve he ever tested and Arvid has upgraded the carbon recently so it's maybe 10 fps faster than the bow Mullaney tested. However, one's experience is one's experience regardless of someone else's test...

Is there a printed version of Mullaneys test online anywhere? A link?

Thanks for all the replies. I was wondering why you don't see/hear more about them like the other bows and bowyers.

If you look around when a new bow comes out and it lives up to it's hype every one has to own one and can't stop talking about them.

there are other opinions-you might ask at tradtalk forum for another opinion.I shot one and it was very very fast but very loud.

A lot depends upon what year the bow was built. I've shot a bow that was not esp. quiet but then it was really not set up to be quiet. The recent bows are not noisy at all, IMO.

There are several YouTube reviews, including speed tests. Some of the reviews were getting super speeds out of low wt. Black Swan bows and with a glove. Most bowyers report speed tests using a mechnaical release as it is about 5 fps faster. Two of the reviewers gave their opinion the Black Swan was the best bow they have ever shot.

My view is that the bow is very unique and extremely fast and extremely smooth. However, I wouldn't claim that ANY bow is the best in the world, it is just too personal a thing. Same for guitars, cars, etc.

A summary of Mullaney's testing can be found at the Black Swan archery site. Go to testing at the top of the page, then click on report.

This is a different perspective than the other sites I visit. I don't really know all the math of bows but folks are saying the speed claims are impossible? Like I say I have no clue but I'd like to shoot one.

David- I'll probably end up using Arvid's stringer!

I think Arvid's bows look promising. They're not as radical in the hooks as Borders and still are pushing the performance envelop. As David implies, the idea of higher speeds so one can lower bow draw weight is a good one. None of us are getting younger. We all will have to drop down in bow weight. A speed boost can compensate for it.
