Had a chance to check on out at Cabelas in Gonzales La. Wow, a lot of bow for the money, Retro grip, super light, quiet without string silencers. Had some really stiff arrows to test it. Piled them up in a pile

So what other bows did you shoot at the same time to compare it to?

Do you know who is making the bow for them?

We are kind of a tough crowd here eh Lon...I was just going to ask the same question...I find trying to get that sort of information in the big box stores that sell bows is often a complete exercise in frustration...in contrast my friend who sells Bodnik bows out of his basement has actually been to the Bodnik operation in Germany and has Henry Bodnik here hunting with him

I believe the Cabelas Warden recurve looks like ( Sage? ) is made by Samick. Also, I think the 1 piece Cabelas recurve Looks like the Samick Red Stag . I would guess the longbow to be a Samick but I did not see one there.

Sounds no different than Montgomery Wards(Cabelas) getting Bear(Samick) to produce them a branded bow.

It was common back in the day and with a little research you can figure it out. Fact is, Bear can't keep up here in the USA...yet, and don't even know what's going on with Martin/Howatt nowadays. So, for any company that wants to tout a recurve with their name on it, it almost has to be imported. PSE has done that with various importers for two decades or more.

The one piece looks like the Red Stag one piece bow, and it is a good one as far as shooting quality goes. The longbow is an identical copy of the Red Stag Longbow also. So it appears that Samick is making their bows this year.

Blacky seems to be incommunicado lately...I will settle for some good old Alberta force draw tables from Pete Ward...I think he has some Cabela's bow testing scheduled for, well let's just say the 12th of never

I was looking at some of the recurves at cabelas in NY a few weeks ago and some of them are marked by Howatt.

You get what you pay for.

$189 for a bow built in China as cheaply as it can possibly be done by a country that hates us is not always the best deal.

Better to pay a bit more for an American based company using the finest glues, wood and glass on the market than the cheapest materials available.

Nothing like bad mouthing something when you've never tried it. I've heard good things about Samick. They've been in business long enough that even if their product isn't t top drawer, it's still good or they wouldn't be in business still.

I looked at that bow. My guess is made by Samick. Not bad for the money.

If it gets people into the sport that's a good thing. Cabelas here had super kodiaks that just didn't sell.

I would choose it over the October mountain, red stagg, or Martin stick. All of which I've shot. For the price difference, I'd probably choose it over the new Montana's on the rack. I've owned a Montana since 04. Straight grip like an old Pearson or bear, but I'm not an expert it elitist, traditional archer. Just an old Guy whose been shooting a bow off and on for 50 years.ell for a m
