Hey Guys, I think that I am starting to see things. There are 2 Fred Bear Knife sets on E- bay one is already over $900 bucks and still rising another is over $700. Is it just me or is this crazy. I love Bear but, are these anywhere near realistic prices ? WOW !!

Could be some shill bidding going on.
It's happened many times that a seller gets his buddy to do some crazy bidding against another. Before you know it, everyone thinks that's the going price.

Interesting how shy these bidders are.
Must be Howard Hughes.

Phil Magistro started a thread on those sets a while ago...I think we need to remember there is all sorts of room in any auction for shill bidding...I have a feeling that someone is playing those sort of games in this case...a real auction is one where you can actually see and hear the auctioneer...eBay is increasingly the land of smoke and mirrors

Look at the bidding history. There are 2 bidders and they have either low or no feedback. The seller will have to pay the fee for the sell price?

Yep, he pays the sell fee, BUT he relists later for a little less and some sucker bites.
BTW, if I had $900 to blow it would not be on one of those sets.

He might get free Hype but nobody on this site is dumb enough to pay that much.

The seller fees alone will probably be over $100.00 each time he "sells" it. Double that and it's $bay that is going to clean up in that deal.

No - shill "winner" will not pay, and the "zero" feedback winner will lose his fake eybay ID No money paid to paypal means no sale and no $100 fee. Just hype.

I have seen shill bidding at regular auctions. A local auctioneer held weekly auctions of various stuff. He had two or three older retired fellows shilling for him to bring up prices.

I got "suckered" in on that back in the 70's on a canvass wall tent, hello, I could have bought a new one for the price that I ended up paying after it was dumped on me! That was at a live auction, haven't went to one since, found out later the auctioneer had this old goat bidding on things,( hunting equipment) when he thought someone really was interested in it. Got to be careful at ANY auctions! Best to set a price that you will pay, nothing more, when you hit that price. Stop!

Years ago my wife bought me a new recurve, my Damon Howatt Hunter had some limb twist and was too much power for me. I got it from a guy I worked with for the $25 he owed my brother. Anyway, Mama put it on the big site at 99 cents with pics and details. It went up to $100 fast! Calmed for a couple days, then 2 Canadian fellers started after it. I think she got over $300!

Larry,
Hey there stranger. As you likely know, it's been a long time since I've been on here so I figured I'd give you a shout and say hey, and thank you once again for the Christmas magazine gift. You really didn't have to do that, but know that I appreciated it very much, I've been trying to get something I've been working on for you finished up so hopefully, it won't take me too much longer.
Hunting season for me was non-eventful. I think I went a total of 4 or 5 times. Between the weird weather during bow season and lack of motivation, I just couldn't get myself in the groove. I did have a bear here again this year but suspect once bow season rolled in, he had moved on. I trapped for about two weeks recently. Two feral cates, four possum, and a skunk was all I caught. But I was glad to rid the area of the cats and possum though.
Oh, I got myself another airplane so come this spring/summer, I plan to fly over and visit. With this plane, it'll take me about 30 minutes. It's fast!
Take care my friend (Dude) and thank you once again! (Ha...I know how much you like "Dude")
Busty
