Tomorrow my Hex 6H Medium 48# (25" riser) limbs should be here. I have a 17" DAS/Dalaa riser and expect to gain about 8#. I assumee I can drop the weight down to about 53# and go up to about 58#.

Really excited to get these limbs. I do have the DAS bushings to convert the ILF Border limbs to fit my DAS.

Anyone else shooting this combo? How do you like it?

I will take pic's tomorrow.

Hi make sure the Das bushing is made for the border limbs. they are longer. http://www.3riversarchery.com/das+limb+bushing+%28border%29_o15_i8177-6_listproduct.html

You will find that you can't adjust much weight with the hex 6 limbs. They don't gain the 3 pounds an inch like other limbs. Mine gain around a pound and a half. If you haven't shot them before you are in for a pleasant surprise.

" I assumee I can drop the weight down to about 53# and go up to about 58#."

If what your asking is whether or not you'll get a 5# adjustment range on the limb bolts, then my answer would be no.

Actually, I've never seen a limb anywhere that gained 3# per inch of reduction in riser length. It's more like 1# per inch.

Kev', in looking at it again, you may well be right; I wasn't quite certain what each poster was stating or asking.

That range was just a guess off something I got from Border on a stock set of limbs they were selling. Those were 2# lighter at 46# but Border said on my DAS they would have about 7# of adjustment.

Here is exactly what they said: "These limbs on a 17” DAS would make 49# fully out and 56# fully in"

Either way I am stoked. Sitting at home now waiting for mail man. Ha

I am sure looking forward to shooting them. Sounds like you all like yours. I am thinking 3d and if quiet enough even hunting.

Well, shoot. mailman came and left. No limbs. Tracking said delivery today. My vigil continues. Ha

I might need help making it through the day. The guy I bought the limbs from paid for 2 day priority USPS delivery... Should have been delivered Saturday but a note on the USPS web site says they were delayed at our local hub... UGH

So here I am at work. USPS says they are out for delivery. Anyone else have comments on this combo or god forbid a pic to help me get through the day? Ha

Thanks!

I hope you make it through the day. Just ask around. Maybe someone's got a blood pressure pill they can lend you. LOL

Got my limbs and they are GREAT. You really feel the drop in pull per inch as you get to 28". Probably starts about 26".

They sure seem fast too. Very smooth.

I took pix of just the limbs and spent the rest of the night shooting on my DAS.

Pix of the whole setup tomorrow. Look at the hooks on these.

I have to make a new string. This is about 7" brace ht with a 56.25" string. I will make a 56.75" and see how that works. Sid from Border promotes a low brace ht, like 6.5-7" on these.

It sure spits out an arrow.

So far, I like the combo a lot.

Can't comment on the riser/limb combo you're putting together but can on USPS delivery. Have a Blacktail coming from Idaho. It was sent a week ago Saturday and still isn't here. It at least made it to NJ but still stuck in hub there. And they wonder why they're losing money.

How would you rate the sound level coming from the borders- better or worse than your other limb?

Sid promotes the low brace height but I have found on the 3 that I have that I like them best at 7 to 7 1/4 and they are quieter there. They sure are a nice shooting bow.

My 3d arrow is a tad light so that was noisy. My hunting arrow pretty good. Then I wrapped yarn on the string ends and it was quiet. Well at least as quiet as my Black Widow.

I am ok with it. I feel it is pretty good. I would add that NEVER was it like standing next to a guy shooting a FITA set up. If you ever heard some of those they can be like a .22 going off.

I had my HEX 6 limbs set up with an 8 strand SBD bow string and wool puffs. The end of the string was wrapped in wool yarn.I had limbsavers about 3 inches above the fadeouts.Brace hieght was 7 and 1/4.This was a 60 inch bow with a 17 inch riser and medium limbs.

I shot a CX Heritage 250 with 200 grains up front cut to 31".A Pretty heavy arrow. The draw weight was about 50#s at 29.5 inches draw.

It was quiet set up this way.

bow, Just curious how long a string you had? I just made a 56.75 and that seems perfect to get a 6.75 brace ht. I am sure I could twist up from there.

Thanks, Bill

I dont know.My brother has the bow now.It had a morrison dymondwood riser that was 17".I had about 1 twist per inch.Which is a very good fit for a string.

Sounds like your string is about right. You dont want too many twists.I would assume that the string you have will easily twist up to 7" or above. You just dont want too many twist ideally if you are looking for the perfect custom string for your bow.

I think we can all live with a string though thats over twisted to some degree.I have shot strings on bows that had what I consider too many twists and it worked fine. Its just not ideal and i think you want that hot rod to have the perfect string. Mine was an 8 strand,2 bundle D-10.I like D-10.It makes for a quiet bow.I like to make a pretty big wool puff.It fits easily between a 2 bundle string and balances out well compared to a 3 bundle.I then trim my wool puff after installing with sharp scizzors to make it smaller, rounder and dense. It looks good and works very well!

I made a 10 strand and padded the loops to 18. It is on the bow now stretching. I will serve it up Sunday when i get some time. Should have settled nicely into my preferred brace ht.

Thanks!
