I just returned from delivering my aunt from southern Minnesota, to my cousin's house in Springfield, Mo. My cousin lives 8 minutes from Black Widow bows.

I can't describe how cool that part of my trip was, from shooting bows to the tour of the factory, not to mention going through the archery hall of fame at the Bass Pro Shop in Springfield. I was hoping to order a bow while I was in Nixa, but I had an appointment with the audiologist the day before we left, and I found out I'm a candidate for not one, but two hearing aids. According to my wife, hearing aids are more important than a bow.

I'm hoping to revisit the subject with her in Spring when I bring my aunt back. Meanwhile, not heartbroken, just disappointed.

Glad you got to visit! My friend's mom lost her hearing aid last week. I looked for it but without success. It was well over $1,000 She got a replacement for $200. She said it's important to get the aid on your insurance. She wouldn't have had to pay anything if she had it insured.

If you are a Veteran, you may want to check with the VA. A good set of hearing aids cost about $2000. ( That's what it cost me three years ago.)

check with your office of vocational rehabilitation...ran by the state in Ky...had an appt. today, if you need them for work they will now give you a set for free. I have bought 3 sets well over $2000 each and the ones I am getting for free are better than the ones I have been buying. your state may not offer this service but it is definitely worth checking into...opr8r

You could order the bow instead, and just tell your wife that you didn't hear her advice?

Or here's another effective, low cost solution from one of the industry's great innovators, Rick Barbee. I think he has a six-month backlog of orders on these, but since they only cost $4.99 you'll be able to afford the hearing aids AND that new bow!

LOL! Crookedstix, you're a genius and innovator! Just don't stand too close to the camp fire.

Would like to see the young ones around here wearing these aids, as they can't seem to hear their music while driving around the hood. :)

Check out a place to get hearing aids in Rockford, IL. They are a fraction of the cost and are the same hearing aids because they supply hearing aids to the audiologists. My mom and my brother both got them there. Skeet

Nixa is a cool little town with some great hunting as well. I used to live there and was able to go to Black Widow all the time. I live about 10 minutes from there. Glad you were able to go.

Some of you guys are really funny. Some of you have good advice (see your pm's), and crookedstix, well I just think you're trying to get me neutered!

Thanks guys.

To follow up on the V.A. and hearing aids. I just got a pair from them and they are valued at $5000. Still going back for adjustments and really havn't benefitted much at this point, but think its a good product altho very high in the technology dept. and for an "old fart" like me I'm not sure my brain can unravel it all. I've always said %60 of noise you don't need to hear but the other %40 may include a car horn when you're crossing the street or your wife telling you she's in the mood----that you need to hear. Hi Popester1, My mom and my brother got hearing aids from Lloyds in Rochester,IL. They are very satisfied with the service they received and the hearing aids. Look them up on the internet and see if they can help save some money in your situation. My mom and brother actually went there and had everything taken care of in one day. Hope this helps, Skeet

Hey Popester, All you gotta due is pick up after those kids at work. You'll have all the hearing aids you'll need, then sell the extras to Mr. Barbee to help him fill his orders.

You can come over and shoot some Widows anytime you want, just give me a call.

I have one hearing aid and need another. Crookedstix solved my problem if I can get them in camo.
