I just purchased this Check-Mate off the big auction site and would love to know what model it is. There is no writing on the riser only writing is on the inside of the limbs. On the bottom limb there is the serial number and B for bottom limb as well as manufacture date. There is also some writing that even in the best light with a magnifying glass i just can't make out what it says. The previous owner said it was a check-mate bow 58@53@27. I also emailed pictures to Mark Moreitz owner of Check-mate but haven't got any response. Is this the hunter model? or?

Here are 2 that I own. The longer riser bow is 60" bow, short riser is a 56" bow. They aren't marked with a model but I've always thought they were both Hunter 2's because of the deflex risers. The Mfg date isn't on the 60" bow but I bought it in the mid 90's. 56" bow is dated 6/05. I'm ashamed to admit how much money I've blown buying high dollar custom bows trying to find what suited me best when the best shooting bow I've ever shot had been sitting on the rack all the time......but the only way to find out is to shoot as many as you can. The grips are huge compared to a lot of other bows, but I think CM's have the best grip I've found. The 60" bow 61#'s @28". I can still shoot it ok, but I'd like to get the weight reduced. Has anyone had weight reduced on a Check Mate bow and how did it shoot after the weight reduction. I'm asking because I've had weight reduced on other recurves and wasn't pleased with the results afterward. I'd hate to ruin this bow and I'm concerned about it drawing as smooth and easy as it does now.

Like others have said, that's the Hunter riser. The Hunter 2 was deflexed. I've owned one Hunter and four Hunter 2s, two of which I still own.

Billy that pair of mates are good looking bows. I just got mine yesterday. Brace height was set way to short. I lengthened it out to 8 and it shoots a ton better.

My check mate was sold to be being a 58" long bow. I just measured it and unstrung its actually 55". Guessing its actually a 56" model which is great all the rest of my bows are 62. Nice to have a shorter bow for certain hunts. Funny thats theres no identifing marks on the earlier check mates.

gobbler, Mine shoot best braced at 7-5/8, not that you should do that, it's just what works on my bows. Both of mine are marked Check Mate Hunter, but I'm sure they are Hunter 2 bows. I often wondered why they weren't marked as 2's. I wish the 60" bow had a date on it, not that it matters. I can't recall the exact year I bought it, but seems it was in the mid 90's. Anyone know what year they started building the Hunter 2's?

I googled the brace height for a hunter 1 and it looks like anywhere from 7/12-8 1/2 is whats recommended from what i found. Mine came at 7 inches and it was shooting kinda of loud. I adjusted the brace up and the noise went away at 8" on this bow and shot real nice.

Mine are marked as only TD Hunter, not Hunter 11 as I've always thought they were....anyone know what the CM numbers are below the specs. Is that serial numbers only or does it designate something else?

Both of Billy's bows have CM serial numbers meaning they are Chek Mate bows...the Golden Hawk, although similar, was a Cascade bow...I have no idea what Marc used for serial numbers on the Cascades

Hey I went to great lengths to find that KMag for you Cameron...I had to look in the classifieds and pay for it and get it from the post office and take it to your house...okay so maybe medium lengths then...on second thought it was not much trouble at all...and that sure is a nice looking little Chek-Mate...I am sensing another bizarre trade-fest this weekend
